Middle Atlantic UPS & Battery Backup | NEXSYS Rackmount UPS (56 products)

Middle Atlantic UPS & Battery Backup (NEXSYS)

Rackmount UPS built for AV — NEXSYS lithium-ion and lead-acid units from compact 500VA to 3kVA online double-conversion.

An AV rack loses power like any other rack, but the consequences are different: a projector mid-lamp-cycle, a DSP mid-configuration, a signage player mid-write. Middle Atlantic's NEXSYS UPS line is designed for that environment — rackmount form factors that fit the rack you already specified, RackLink networking for remote monitoring and outlet control, lithium-ion models with much longer service life than sealed lead-acid, online double-conversion units for the cleanest output, and expandable battery packs where longer runtime is required.

What Is in This Collection

  • UPX NEXSYS Series — 1000VA to 2000VA rackmount UPS, with 2-bank and 8-individual-outlet configurations.
  • UPX RackLink Models — NEXSYS UPS with RackLink networking for remote monitoring and per-outlet control.
  • UPS-OL Online Series — online double-conversion UPS for sensitive equipment and poor incoming power.
  • UPS-LL Lithium-Ion Series — lithium-ion rackmount UPS up to 3kVA with extended service life.
  • Expansion Battery Packs — UPS-OLEBPR and UPX expandable runtime packs.
  • Replacement Batteries & Network Cards — UPS-SRBP replacement battery packs and UPS network interface cards.

Why a Rackmount AV UPS

  • Protects against the brownouts and short outages that cause most AV equipment faults
  • Clean shutdown time for signage players, servers and control processors instead of abrupt power loss
  • Online double-conversion output for equipment sensitive to waveform and frequency
  • Lithium-ion chemistry lasts substantially longer than sealed lead-acid, which lowers lifetime cost
  • RackLink networking gives remote status, battery health and outlet control
  • Rackmount form factor and standard rails so it lives in the rack rather than on the floor

Typical Applications

  • Digital signage networks where players must not corrupt on power loss
  • Control processors and DSPs holding live configurations
  • Broadcast, streaming and production racks that cannot drop
  • Video conferencing head-ends in critical meeting spaces
  • Security, access control and camera systems
  • Sites with unreliable or noisy utility power

Choosing a UPS

Type Output Battery Best Fit
UPX NEXSYS Line-interactive Sealed lead-acid General AV racks
UPX RackLink Line-interactive Sealed lead-acid Remote-managed sites
UPS-OL online Double conversion Sealed lead-acid Sensitive gear, poor power
UPS-LL lithium Online Lithium-ion Long service life, low maintenance

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I size a UPS for an AV rack?

Total the continuous watts of everything that must stay up, then choose a UPS whose watt rating comfortably exceeds it — VA and watts are not the same number, so size on watts. Then check the runtime chart at that load against how long you actually need.

How long will it run?

Runtime depends on load, not just capacity. A UPS rated for thirty minutes at half load may give under ten at full load. Decide first whether you need ride-through for brief outages or genuine runtime, because they lead to very different products.

Line-interactive or online double-conversion?

Line-interactive is right for most AV racks. Choose online double-conversion when the incoming power is poor, when the equipment is sensitive to waveform and frequency, or when a generator is in the path.

Is lithium-ion worth the premium?

Usually, over the life of the installation. Lithium packs last considerably longer than sealed lead-acid, tolerate warmer rack conditions better, and remove several battery replacement visits from the maintenance schedule.

How often do UPS batteries need replacing?

Sealed lead-acid typically needs replacement every three to five years, sooner in a warm rack. Lithium-ion runs much longer. Networked models report battery health, which is the practical way to stay ahead of it.

Should the UPS power the amplifiers too?

Usually not. Amplifiers draw large transient current and will size the UPS up dramatically for little benefit. Protect the sources, processors and control system, and let the amplifiers ride on protected mains.
