The Slim 5 series is Middle Atlantic's answer to two constraints at once: a rack row that has to be narrow, and an install schedule that has no time for a full build. The frames ship knocked down or configured in sizes from roughly 14 to 45 rack spaces, and the Lever Lock mounting system lets rails, panels and accessories be positioned and locked without hardware. Around the frames sits a full set of 5-series options — adjustable rear rails (5AR), cable chase kits (5CC), side panels (SP-5), front doors (DO-5) and locking casters (5WL).

What does Lever Lock actually do?

It replaces threaded hardware with a lever-actuated locking mechanism for rails, panels and accessories, so components are positioned by hand and locked in place. On a job with twenty identical racks, that saved time is the reason the series exists.

Is a Slim 5 rack as strong as a welded rack?

For normal AV equipment loads, yes — the frames are rated and published like any other rack in the line. For extremely heavy server or battery loads, a welded MRK, BGR or WRK frame is the safer specification.

Does Slim 5 accept standard rack accessories?

Yes. The rails are standard 19-inch EIA, so shelves, blank and vent panels, lacer bars and rack power strips from anywhere in the Middle Atlantic line fit.

Can I close in a Slim 5 rack?

Yes — SP-5 side panels and DO-5 front doors turn the open frame into an enclosed, lockable rack. Add 5CC cable chase kits for a managed vertical cable path.

Which size should I order?

Total the rack units of your equipment and add 20 to 30 percent for panels, power, cable dressing and growth. Slim 5 frames are available in a wide range of heights, so it is worth sizing up one step rather than filling the rack completely.
