Middle Atlantic Equipment Racks | Floor-Standing & Gangable AV Racks (467 products)

Middle Atlantic Equipment Racks (Floor-Standing & Gangable)

The floor-standing rack platform most AV head-end rooms are built on — MRK, BGR, ERK, VRK, DRK and AXS.

Middle Atlantic floor-standing racks are the structural backbone of an installed AV system. The line is tiered by how the rack is deployed: MRK and BGR gangable frames bolt together into a continuous rack row, ERK and WRK stand alone as fully enclosed single racks, VRK and DRK serve knock-down and welded-frame roles, and AXS is the compact rack for rooms where a full-height frame will not fit. All of them share the same 19-inch EIA rack rail, the same accessory ecosystem, and the same thermal and cable-management options, so a specification written for one carries across the family.

Rack Families in This Collection

  • MRK Series — gangable AV racks in 26", 31" and 37" depths, with AV-configured variants that ship with rails, vents and a rear door already fitted.
  • BGR Series — gangable and stand-alone enclosures with an integrated thermal path, the workhorse for large multi-bay rack rows.
  • ERK Series — economical fully-enclosed racks with a rear door, ideal for a single-rack closet or a small head-end.
  • VRK & DRK Series — knock-down and welded floor racks, including perforated and plexi front-door options.
  • AXS Series — compact, shallow-depth AV racks for credenzas, under-counter placements and constrained equipment closets.
  • PTRK & Portable Racks — pre-configured and transportable rack packages.
  • Rails, Rear Doors & Frame Options — the rack rail pairs, doors and side panels that configure any of the frames above.

Why Specify Middle Atlantic Racks

  • Gangable frames create a continuous, structurally rigid rack row without a separate framing kit
  • Integrated thermal design — vent tops, fan tops and door perforation are engineered as a system, not bolted on
  • Deep accessory ecosystem: shelves, lacer bars, blanks, vent panels and power all share the same mounting pattern
  • Seismic-rated and floor-anchored configurations available for code-driven projects
  • Consistent 19-inch EIA rail geometry so equipment moves between racks without re-drilling
  • Long production lifecycles, which matters when a facility standard has to hold for a decade
  • Made in the USA with TAA-compliant configurations for federal and state procurement

Typical Applications

  • Corporate AV head-end and equipment rooms
  • Broadcast, post-production and studio rack rooms
  • Higher-education classroom, lecture-hall and campus AV closets
  • Houses of worship with a centralized audio and video head-end
  • Government command centers and security operations rooms
  • Stadium, arena and large-venue AV infrastructure

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a gangable rack and a stand-alone rack?

A gangable rack is designed to bolt to the rack next to it so a row behaves as one rigid structure and shares side panels. A stand-alone rack ships with both side panels and is meant to live on its own. MRK and BGR are the gangable families; ERK and the SA-suffixed BGR and WRK models are stand-alone.

How do I work out how many rack spaces (RU) I need?

Add the rack units of every device, then add roughly 20 to 30 percent for vent panels, blanks, power, cable dressing and future growth. A rack that is full on day one is a rack that will be rebuilt within two years.

Do these racks come with rack rails and doors?

It depends on the model. AV-configured variants (for example MRK-4426-AV) ship with rails, vent panels and a rear door fitted. Base frames are supplied bare so you can specify the rail pair, door style and side panels yourself. Every option is in this store — see the related collections below.

What rack depth should I order?

Measure the deepest device including its connectors and cable bend radius, then add at least 4 to 6 inches behind it. Most modern AV amplifiers and switchers need a 26" to 31" rack; 37" depths are for servers and deep power gear.

How much heat can a rack handle before it needs fans?

A passively vented rack handles a few hundred watts comfortably. Once amplifiers, matrix switchers and UPS units push past that, a fan top or fan panel is required — see Middle Atlantic Rack Cooling & Fans.

Are TAA-compliant and seismic-rated racks available?

Yes. Middle Atlantic manufactures in the USA and offers TAA-compliant configurations plus seismic anchoring options. Call us with the specification and we will confirm the exact model.
