What are AV technology solutions?

An AV technology solution is an engineered system, not a product. A product is a single device — one camera, one display, one microphone. A solution is the hardware, software, network configuration, control programming, commissioning, user training and lifecycle support assembled so that a specific space reliably produces a specific outcome: a meeting that starts on time, a shift handover that never drops video, a lecture that streams and records without an operator.

The practical difference shows up on day 31. Equipment bought as parts arrives in boxes and becomes someone's second job. Equipment delivered as a solution arrives configured, documented, labeled, integrated with your identity and calendaring systems, and covered by a support agreement with a named escalation path. Creation Networks sells both — we are an authorized dealer for the major AV manufacturers — but the work described on this page is the second kind.

Four families of AV technology solutions

Almost every request we receive falls into one of four categories. They differ in what "working correctly" means — which changes the design, the redundancy, and the support model.

1. Workplace & collaboration solutions

Meeting rooms, boardrooms, huddle spaces and hybrid work environments built around Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex or Google Meet. Success means meeting equity: the people dialing in hear and are heard as well as the people in the room. Typical scope is a room-type template — huddle, standard, large, boardroom — with one bill of materials per template, rolled out consistently across a floor, a campus or an enterprise. Many of these platforms now bundle AI features such as auto-framing cameras and voice-tracking audio — see how AI is used in AV systems.

2. Digital experience & engagement solutions

Displays, LED video walls, background audio and content management used to inform, direct and impress the people moving through a space — lobbies, retail floors, hospitality venues, hospital corridors, campuses, transit hubs and stadiums. Success is measured in uptime and content freshness, so the CMS and the remote management path matter as much as the panels.

3. Mission-critical operations solutions

Network operations centers, security operations centers, emergency operations centers, 911 dispatch floors and utility control rooms. Success is defined negatively — the system must not fail. That drives N+1 power, dual-path video, redundant processors with automatic failover, hot-spare displays, out-of-band management and a documented disaster recovery procedure, plus ergonomic console design for staff who sit there 24/7.

4. Learning & training solutions

Lecture halls, active-learning classrooms, training rooms, simulation labs and auditoriums, with lecture capture, streaming and hybrid instruction built in rather than added later. Success means an instructor with no technical support can walk in, press one button, and have the room work — which puts the weight on control programming and standardization, not on equipment count.

Right-fit AV technology matched to the room it serves
Right-fit design: the system is specified to the room and the outcome, not to a catalog.

How an AV technology solutions engagement works

Six phases. You can enter at any of them — plenty of clients arrive with a completed design and need only procurement and installation — but this is the full sequence.

Phase 1

Discovery

A CTS-D design architect reviews your goals, spaces, headcount, existing platform, network constraints, timeline and budget. Site walks where practical, remote review where not. Output is a solution concept and a budgetary estimate, typically within five to seven business days of the first call.

Phase 2

Design & engineering

Full documentation: equipment schedules, signal-flow diagrams, rack elevations, plate and conduit details, CSI-format specifications, and coordination drawings for the architect, electrician and general contractor. Acoustic modeling where the room requires it.

AV design & engineering services · Acoustic design

Phase 3

Procurement

Authorized-dealer purchasing across the major manufacturers, with lead-time management, staging, asset tagging and — for public-sector work — TAA and NDAA Section 889 compliance verification before anything ships.

TAA compliant AV · NDAA 889 compliance · Finance & lease options

Phase 4

Deployment

Licensed low-voltage installation crews in all 50 states, managed by a single project manager regardless of how many sites are in scope. Rack build, cable pull and termination, display and mount installation, and coordination with trades on site.

AV installation services

Phase 5

Programming, commissioning & adoption

Certified Crestron, Extron and Q-SYS programming; DSP tuning and audio measurement; full system test against the design intent; labeled as-built documentation; and end-user training so the room gets used the way it was designed.

AV control & DSP programming

Phase 6

Lifecycle & managed support

24/7 remote monitoring with proactive alerting, firmware and software management, preventive maintenance visits, SLA-backed on-site response, room-health analytics and quarterly business reviews. Optional embedded on-site staffing for large campuses.

How long AV projects take and what they cost

Two questions come up on every first call. These are our observed ranges from 5,000+ completed rooms — not quotes. Actual figures depend on room size, construction conditions, platform and equipment tier.

Project type Typical timeline What drives the range
Single conference room 3–6 weeks Equipment lead times; whether conduit already exists
Full office floor 8–14 weeks Room count, trade coordination, occupancy constraints
Digital signage rollout 6–16 weeks Site count, network readiness, CMS configuration
Command or control room 4–9 months Redundancy design, console fabrication, security review
Multi-site enterprise program 4–18 months Phased in waves; standardization work happens up front

Budget ranges vary too widely by scope to publish a single figure. Boardroom projects, as one published example, typically run $45,000 to $250,000+ depending on display technology and automation depth. Ask for a budgetary estimate on the discovery call and you will have a number in five to seven business days.

AV Technology Solutions FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — AV Technology Solutions & Commercial AV Integration

Last updated: September 2026

Answers to the questions IT directors, facilities managers and procurement teams ask most often about AV technology solutions, integration partners, timelines and cost.

What is the difference between an AV product and an AV solution?

A product is one device — a camera, a display, a microphone. An AV solution is the complete engineered system: hardware, network configuration, control programming, commissioning, user training and support, built around a measurable outcome. Creation Networks has delivered more than 5,000 such systems since 2006.

The difference shows on day 31. Equipment bought as parts arrives in boxes and becomes someone's second job. A solution arrives configured, labeled, documented and covered by a support agreement with a named escalation path. See our audiovisual services portfolio.

How do I choose the right AV technology solutions provider?

Check four things: AVIXA CTS-D certification on staff, so someone can design rather than quote; vendor neutrality, because an integrator tied to one manufacturer specifies that manufacturer regardless of fit; whether design, installation, programming and support are in-house or subcontracted; and geographic coverage matching your footprint.

Every handoff between firms is a place accountability disappears. A strong local integrator is still the wrong choice for a 40-site rollout. Start with an independent AV assessment if you are comparing partners.

What is the difference between AV integration and IT integration, and does our IT team need to be involved?

The boundary has effectively disappeared. Modern AV devices are IP endpoints — they sit on VLANs, authenticate against your identity provider, pull firmware over the network and fall under the same security policy as any managed device. Your IT team should be involved from design onward.

AV integration still owns what IT does not: acoustics, sightlines, signal flow, control programming, rigging and physical installation. But an integrator who cannot discuss network segmentation, QoS and certificate management will create work for your IT team, not remove it.

Why work with a single AV partner instead of several vendors?

Failures happen at the seams. When design comes from one firm, equipment from a second and installation from a third, a room that does not work produces a conference call rather than a fix. One partner means one design intent, one bill of materials and one support number.

It is usually also cheaper once you count the internal hours multi-vendor coordination consumes.

Will you work directly with our architect, general contractor and IT department on a new building?

Yes, and on new construction the earlier the better. Creation Networks produces coordination drawings for conduit, backbox and power requirements, CSI-format specifications for the bid set, and network requirements documentation for IT. Being engaged at design development rather than at punch list is the strongest predictor of an on-time finish.

See AV design and engineering services for what the documentation set includes.

What is hybrid workplace technology and why does it matter?

Hybrid workplace technology combines room AV, a video conferencing platform, room scheduling and workplace analytics so in-office and remote staff participate on equal terms. The measurable goal is meeting equity: remote participants hear every voice in the room and contribute without waiting for a gap.

Most hybrid complaints trace to microphone coverage and camera framing, not to the platform. Fixing the room is usually cheaper than changing software.

How do you standardize meeting rooms across an enterprise?

By defining room-type templates — typically huddle, small, medium, large and boardroom — then building one fixed bill of materials and one control interface per template. Every room of a given type gets identical equipment, an identical touch panel and an identical support procedure.

Standardization is what makes a rollout of hundreds of rooms feasible, and it cuts support cost permanently because a technician never has to learn a one-off room. See enterprise AV solutions.

Can our meeting rooms support visitors and BYOD laptops running a different platform than ours?

Yes. A well-designed room runs its native platform — Teams, Zoom, Webex or Meet — for internal meetings, and also lets any visitor drive the displays, camera and microphones from their own laptop over a single USB-C cable or a wireless presentation system.

This matters more than most organizations expect, because client and partner meetings are exactly the ones where a failure is expensive.

Which video conferencing platform should we standardize on?

Whichever one your organization already runs. Room hardware is a poor reason to change collaboration platforms — the licensing, training and change-management cost of a migration dwarfs the hardware difference. Creation Networks is certified on all four major platforms and has no commercial reason to favor one.

Compare sizing and equipment in our pre-configured meeting room bundles.

What is digital signage and which platforms do you support?

Digital signage is networked display content managed centrally and pushed to screens across one building or thousands of sites. The screens are the easy part — the content management system, media players, network path and remote monitoring determine whether the network still works in year three.

Creation Networks deploys on BrightSign, Stratacache and other major CMS platforms, chosen to fit your content workflow. See digital signage solutions.

What is an executive briefing center and why do enterprises invest in one?

An executive briefing center is a purpose-built space for high-stakes customer meetings, product demonstrations and executive visits. The investment case is sales-cycle compression: prospects experience a product rather than hear about it. Typical builds pair an immersive video wall with premium conference audio and one-touch automation.

Branded environmental design and a one-button start matter more than raw specification here, because the host is usually an executive, not a technician. See video wall solutions for the display side of the build.

Do you install outdoor LED and high-brightness displays?

Yes. Outdoor and semi-outdoor applications need IP-rated, high-nit panels with thermal management and engineered structural mounting — a standard indoor display in a storefront window fails within a season. Creation Networks deploys exterior LED for building branding, drive-through menus, stadiums and transit information.

High-ambient interiors like atriums and lobbies have the same brightness problem. See LED and video wall solutions.

What technology defines a modern command and control room?

Five elements: a video wall sized for viewing distance rather than impact, KVM-over-IP so operators drive any source from any position, low-latency AV-over-IP transport such as SDVoE, Dante or NDI, redundant processing with automatic failover, and ergonomic consoles built for twelve-hour shifts.

The furniture is not a finishing touch — it is the component operators complain about first. See command and control room design.

How do you design a command center so it keeps running when a component fails?

By assuming every component will. That means N+1 power with UPS and generator support, dual-path video routing, redundant control processors with automatic failover, hot-spare displays held on site, out-of-band management reachable when the production network is down, and a rehearsed disaster recovery procedure.

Redundancy costs money, so the design conversation starts by separating failures you can survive from failures you cannot.

Can you meet government, DoD and utility security requirements?

Yes. Creation Networks designs SCIF-adjacent and secure-facility systems, NERC CIP-aligned utility control rooms and security operations centers, and procures to TAA and NDAA Section 889 requirements with documentation. Practices align to NIST 800-53 and FIPS where the contract requires it.

Cleared partners are engaged where clearance is required. See SCIF AV systems and federal government AV solutions.

How long does an AV installation take from order to handover?

A single conference room typically takes 3–6 weeks. A full office floor runs 8–14 weeks. A digital signage rollout takes 6–16 weeks depending on site count. A command or control room takes 4–9 months. Multi-site enterprise programs run 4–18 months in phased waves.

Equipment lead times and site readiness — conduit, power, network drops — move these numbers far more than labor does.

How much should we budget for a conference room or boardroom AV system?

Budget varies too widely by scope for a single figure, but published ranges help: boardroom projects typically run $45,000 to $250,000+ depending on display technology and automation depth. Creation Networks delivers a budgetary estimate within 5–7 business days of a discovery call.

Room size, platform, ceiling construction and whether conduit already exists are the largest cost drivers. See boardroom AV solutions for a worked example.

How often should we refresh workplace AV technology?

Plan a full refresh every 5–10 years, but budget by component. Cameras and codecs turn over every 4–6 years as meeting platforms change certification requirements. Displays last 7–10 years or 50,000–100,000 hours. Control processors last 7–10 years, ending at firmware end-of-support.

Network and AV-over-IP infrastructure lasts ten years or more. A planned mid-cycle camera refresh is far cheaper than replacing whole rooms.

What is included in managed AV services?

24/7 remote monitoring with proactive alerting before users notice a fault, firmware and software lifecycle management, scheduled preventive maintenance, SLA-backed on-site response, room-health and utilization analytics, and quarterly business reviews. Embedded on-site technicians are available for large campuses and multi-building sites.

Creation Networks delivers these under its Creation Care and AVAILS programs. See managed AV support and maintenance for SLA tiers and what proactive monitoring catches before a meeting starts.

Do you install and service AV systems nationwide?

Yes. Creation Networks installs and services in all 50 states from California and Nevada offices, using a certified field technician and project management network. Multi-site clients get one project manager and one support contract regardless of how many states are in scope.

That is the difference between a national program and a different local vendor in every city.

How do I get started with a technology solutions engagement?

The fastest path is a 30-minute discovery call. A CTS-D certified solutions architect reviews your goals, spaces, timelines and budget, then delivers a tailored solution concept and budgetary estimate within 5–7 business days. There is no charge for that first pass.
