Quick answer

What is K-12 school AV integration?

K-12 school AV integration is the design, installation, and support of the audiovisual systems across a school or district: classroom displays and audio, gym and cafeteria sound, auditorium and performing arts systems, library and CTE spaces, and board room and public meeting AV. Creation Networks delivers it for K-12 districts with CTS-D certified engineers, district-wide room standards, and ADA assistive listening designed into each space.

California school districts can purchase through our six active CMAS cooperative purchasing contracts, and any district can buy by direct purchase order or competitive quote. We provide itemized documentation for bond and grant reporting. See how schools buy and fund AV.

K-12 School AV Integration That Teachers Can Use and Districts Can Support

A district technology department supports every school building with a team smaller than most single-campus corporate IT groups, and the teachers in those buildings are not AV technicians.

Good K-12 AV starts from those two facts. Systems must work on the first press for a teacher with four minutes between periods, and they must be uniform enough that one technician can service a classroom in any building. That means a small set of room standards, durable commercial-grade equipment mounted and cabled for shared use by students, and remote monitoring that flags problems before a teacher calls.

Our consulting, design, and installation teams work with district technology directors, facilities managers, and architects on new construction, modernization, and summer upgrade projects.

Rollout

How Do School Districts Standardize and Roll Out AV?

We begin with a district assessment: how many rooms of each type, what is already installed, and which can be reused. We then define two or three classroom standards, a gym or auditorium standard, and a board room standard, and price the full rollout so the district can sequence it across budget cycles and summers.

Each classroom gets the same display, switching, microphone, and control layout, so a teacher transferring schools sees the same touch panel and a technician carries the same spares. We schedule installs around the school calendar, with summer break as the main window for large rollouts. See classroom AV systems and our AV installation services.

Safety & Communications

How Does School AV Connect to Emergency Communications?

School AV and school safety systems share infrastructure, so they should be designed together.

Classroom speakers, gym sound, and signage can be tied into a school's existing public address, intercom, or mass notification platform so a single announcement or alert reaches every space, where the platform supports integration. We coordinate with your safety and facilities teams so AV changes do not disturb life-safety systems, and we do not replace certified life-safety equipment.

Shop intercoms and public address systems, and see campus digital signage and wayfinding for hallway displays and alert messaging.

Funding

How Do School Districts Buy and Fund AV?

K-12 AV is usually paid for with bond proceeds, capital budgets, or grants, not E-Rate.

E-Rate discounts eligible internet access and internal connections such as switches and wireless access points; classroom displays, microphones, and control systems are generally outside it, so confirm any specific item with USAC. Districts typically combine local bond funds, capital improvement budgets, and state or federal grant programs, each with its own documentation. We provide itemized equipment lists, labor breakdowns, and drawings that satisfy bond oversight and grant reporting.

California districts can buy through our six CMAS contracts, and any district can use a direct purchase order or competitive quote. We do not hold NASPO ValuePoint, Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners, or TIPS awards. For federally funded work, see our NDAA Section 889 compliant AV and TAA compliant AV guides.

K-12 School AV FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — K-12 School AV

Answers to the questions district technology directors, facilities managers, and principals ask most often about school AV design, budgeting, and procurement. Written by our CTS-D certified AV design engineers.

What AV systems do K-12 schools need?

Classroom displays and audio, gym and cafeteria sound, auditorium and performing arts systems, library and CTE spaces, board room streaming, and campus signage. See our education AV hub.

How do you keep school AV simple for teachers?

One primary input, automatic input detection, large buttons, and a room that resets itself. Complexity stays in the rack. We train teachers and staff at closeout.

How do you build AV that students will not damage?

We use commercial-grade equipment, secure mounts and cable management, and place controls out of student reach where practical. Lecterns and racks are lockable.

Does E-Rate pay for classroom AV?

Generally no. E-Rate covers eligible connectivity such as internet access, switches, and wireless access points, not displays, microphones, or control systems. Confirm specific items with USAC. See how schools buy and fund AV.

Can California school districts buy through CMAS?

Yes. Creation Networks holds six active CMAS contracts available to California state and local agencies, districts, CSU, and UC. See our CMAS contracts.

Do you provide documentation for bond and grant funding?

Yes: itemized equipment lists, labor breakdowns, and drawings suitable for bond oversight and grant reporting.

Can you install over the summer?

Yes. Summer break is the main window for large rollouts, and we phase work to be complete before staff return.

Can school AV integrate with the PA or intercom system?

Often yes, where the platform supports it. We coordinate with your safety team and do not replace certified life-safety equipment. Campus signage and alerts.

What support is available after installation?

Remote monitoring, preventive maintenance, and a help desk. Education AV support services.
