The local firm is responsive but has never produced a TAA attestation, never written a Section 889 representation, and has no idea what a CIP submission needs to look like.

What is a small business set-aside?
A solicitation reserved for small business concerns. Large businesses are ineligible to submit. Federal acquisitions above the micro-purchase threshold and below the simplified acquisition threshold are generally reserved for small business, and contracting officers set aside larger acquisitions when there is a reasonable expectation of competitive offers from small businesses at fair market prices. Many state, county, and municipal programs run equivalent small or local business preference schemes.
How do we verify a vendor's small business status?
Check SAM.gov directly using the vendor's UEI rather than relying on a website claim. SAM shows registration status, business size representations, and any socioeconomic certifications. Ours is XMRUL5PM8K37 — verify it yourself.
Why does vendor size matter on an AV project specifically?
Because AV is a long-tail relationship business dressed up as a construction purchase. The install takes weeks; the support relationship lasts fifteen years. At a national integrator, a single-room or single-facility project is a rounding error — it gets the least experienced team, the longest response times, and a support number that routes to a queue. At our size, the same project is significant, and the engineer who designed it takes the call.
Do you have the bench for a large or multi-site project?
For multi-site standardization and large single facilities, yes — over 5,000 rooms installed across all 50 states, with a certified partner network for geographic reach. For a nationwide simultaneous rollout across hundreds of sites on a compressed schedule, a large integrator may genuinely be the better answer and we will say so. We would rather lose a bid than fail a delivery.
Can you help a prime meet small business subcontracting goals?

What is the smallest project you will take?
We do not have a minimum that excludes a single room. A courtroom, a chamber, an accessibility remediation, or one conference room standard you intend to replicate are all real projects to us. That is one of the practical advantages of buying from a small business.
How quickly can you be added as a vendor?
Supplier registration in most agency procurement systems takes days. We complete SAP Ariba, Jaggaer, Bonfire, OpenGov, and similar registrations on request, and we will provide W-9, insurance certificates with your required endorsements, and licensing documentation without being chased. What if a large integrator is already our standard?
That is common and it is not automatically wrong. Where it becomes a problem is when the standard means your small projects wait, your support requests queue, and your programming is locked to a vendor. A frequent arrangement: keep the national integrator for enterprise rollouts, and use us for the public-facing rooms that need attention — chambers, courtrooms, EOCs — where response time is the actual requirement.
