School Auditorium AV Systems —
Assemblies, Games, and Graduations That Sound Right.
Creation Networks designs and installs AV systems for school and college auditoriums, gymnasiums, cafetoriums, and performing arts centers: sound reinforcement, wireless microphones, projection or LED video, lighting control, and streaming. Our CTS-D certified engineers solve the acoustic problems that make large school spaces hard to hear, from reverberant gyms to echoing lecture auditoriums.

What does a school auditorium AV system include?
A school auditorium AV system includes a sound reinforcement system with a mixing console or processor, wireless handheld and lavalier microphones, loudspeakers designed to cover the seating evenly, projection or LED video, assistive listening, and a control interface staff can operate. Creation Networks designs and installs these systems for K-12 schools, colleges, and universities, adding streaming and recording when the venue hosts events for remote audiences.
Gyms and cafetoriums need the same elements adapted to hard surfaces, divisible space, and scoreboards. Shop commercial loudspeakers, audio amplifiers, and wireless microphones, or request a quote.
Auditorium and Gym AV for Spaces Built Without Sound in Mind
Most school gyms and many auditoriums were designed for activity, not speech, and the result is the same complaint everywhere: people can hear that someone is talking but cannot tell what is being said.
Large hard-surfaced rooms reverberate. Sound from a poorly aimed loudspeaker reflects off walls, ceilings, and floors and arrives late, which smears speech into noise. The fix is not more volume. It is loudspeakers aimed at the audience instead of the walls, coverage divided into zones, processing tuned to the room, and, where needed, acoustic treatment from our acoustic design services.
We have solved this in venues from a football stadium, where re-aimed and relocated loudspeakers made announcements intelligible on both sides of the field, to a university auditorium whose echo and washed-out projection we corrected with directional microphones, echo-reducing processing, and an ambient-light screen. See both under the case studies below.

How Should a School Gym Sound System Be Designed?
A gym sound system must make announcements and music intelligible across a large, reverberant, often divisible room, and survive being hit by a ball. Good design uses several loudspeaker zones aimed at the bleachers and court, a processor with delay and EQ tuned to the room, and wireless microphones for the announcer, coaches, and referees.
Divisible gyms need zones that combine and separate with the dividing curtain or wall, scoreboard and clock integration, and a simple control so a coach or student volunteer can run it. See multipurpose room AV and shop JBL Professional installed audio and AtlasIED.
What Equipment Does a School Auditorium Need?

Mixing & Processing
A digital mixer or processor for performances, with presets for assemblies, graduations, and plays. Shop Allen & Heath and DSP.
DSP →Wireless Microphones
Handheld, lavalier, and headset microphones with enough channels for a cast, and a simple setup for a principal at a podium. Wireless microphones.
Wireless microphones →Loudspeakers
Main arrays, front fills, and delays sized to the room so every seat gets even coverage. Commercial loudspeakers.
Loudspeakers →Projection or LED Video
Laser projection or LED walls for presentations, lyrics, and live video. See the Touro University LED wall below, or LCD and LED video walls.
Video walls →Assistive Listening
Systems sized to seating capacity for audiences with hearing loss. Listen Technologies.
ADA compliance →Streaming & Recording
Cameras and encoders for streaming graduations and games. Public meeting streaming.
Streaming →How Do You Stream a Graduation or School Event?
Streaming a graduation, concert, or game extends the audience to families who cannot attend, and it needs more than a single camera.
A reliable setup uses one or more cameras, a clean audio feed from the mixer, a switcher or encoder, and a simple operating procedure a staff member or student crew can follow. We design the feed so announcements and music reach the stream without the room echo, and we can provide on-site support on event days through on-site and embedded AV support.

Frequently Asked Questions — School Auditorium & Gym AV
Answers to the questions principals, athletic directors, theater teachers, and facilities managers ask most often about auditorium and gym sound and video. Written by our CTS-D certified AV design engineers.
What sound system does a school gym need?
Several loudspeaker zones aimed at the bleachers and court, a processor tuned to the room, and wireless microphones for announcers and coaches, with scoreboard integration where needed. See JBL installed audio.
Why is our auditorium hard to understand?
Usually reverberation and poor loudspeaker aiming rather than low volume. We measure the room, re-aim and zone the speakers, tune processing, and add acoustic treatment where needed. Acoustic design services.
Can you upgrade a stadium public address system?
Yes. We re-aimed and relocated loudspeakers for a high school stadium so announcements stayed intelligible on both sides of the field. Read the case study.
Do auditoriums need assistive listening?
Assembly areas with audible communication systems need assistive listening under the 2010 ADA Standards, with receivers set by seating capacity. ADA AV compliance.
Can you add video walls or LED displays to a school venue?
Yes. Touro University installed a roughly 220-inch LED wall for classes, events, and announcements. Read the case study.
Can you stream graduations and events?
Yes, with cameras, a clean audio feed, and an encoder, plus on-site support on event days. Streaming.
How do schools fund auditorium and gym AV?
Through bond, capital, or grant funds, and sometimes athletic or booster funds. Funding and procurement.
What support do large venues need?
Annual inspection, wireless microphone maintenance, and event-day support. Education AV support.
