Middle Atlantic Rack Cabinets & Enclosed Racks | CFR & WRK Series (78 products)

Middle Atlantic Rack Cabinets & Enclosed Racks (CFR & WRK)

Fully enclosed, lockable rack cabinets for equipment that has to be secured, quiet and out of sight.

A rack cabinet is a rack with all four sides, a door and a lock. Middle Atlantic's enclosed line is led by the WRK stand-alone equipment racks — enclosed, gangable-optional frames from roughly 24 to 45 rack spaces in 27" to 32" depths — and the CFR cabinet frame racks, a lighter-weight enclosed frame for smaller rooms. Both accept the full range of front and rear doors, side panels, caster bases, riser bases, rack rails and thermal accessories, so the same cabinet can end up in a quiet boardroom or a hot equipment room.

Cabinet Families in This Collection

  • WRK Series — stand-alone enclosed equipment racks, 24 to 45 RU, in 27", 32" and deeper configurations for AV and server loads.
  • CFR Series — cabinet frame racks in compact 10 to 16 RU sizes for closets, credenzas and small head-ends.
  • Rack Rail Kits — WRK-RR rail pairs that set front and rear mounting depth inside the cabinet.
  • Doors & Rear Panels — solid, vented, perforated and plexi doors for the cabinet front and rear.
  • Caster & Riser Bases — CBS caster bases for mobility and RIB riser bases for floor clearance and cable entry.
  • Side Panels & Security Options — removable side panels and lock kits.

Why Specify an Enclosed Rack Cabinet

  • Physical security — a lockable cabinet is often the compliance requirement, not a preference
  • Contains fan and drive noise in boardrooms, studios and quiet offices
  • Keeps dust off equipment in workshops, gyms, kitchens and industrial spaces
  • Controlled airflow path when paired with a fan top or fan panel
  • Caster bases turn a fixed cabinet into a rollable one without changing the rack
  • Same 19-inch EIA rails and accessories as the rest of the Middle Atlantic line

Typical Applications

  • Boardrooms and executive conference rooms where the rack is in the room
  • Shared IDF closets that need AV equipment locked away from network gear
  • Retail, hospitality and restaurant back-of-house
  • Healthcare and education spaces with tamper and safety requirements
  • Manufacturing and warehouse environments with airborne dust
  • Any room where a rack must be moved between events

Best fit Occupied and public rooms Dedicated head-end rooms

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the CFR and WRK series?

CFR is a compact cabinet frame rack, typically 10 to 16 rack spaces, for closets and small head-ends. WRK is the full-height stand-alone enclosed rack, roughly 24 to 45 rack spaces in deeper 27" to 32" configurations, and is the one to specify when the cabinet carries a real equipment load.

Does an enclosed cabinet need active cooling?

Once you close the sides and add a door, convection alone stops being reliable above a few hundred watts. Pair the cabinet with a vented or fan top and a vented door, and add a fan panel if amplifiers or UPS units are in the load. See Middle Atlantic Rack Cooling & Fans.

Are doors and side panels included?

Configured models include them; base frames do not. Specify the front door style (solid, vented, perforated or plexi), the rear door, and side panels separately when ordering a bare frame — all of them are in the related collections below.

Can a rack cabinet be made mobile?

Yes. A CBS caster base converts a fixed cabinet into a rolling one, and a RIB riser base raises it for floor cable entry. Both bolt to the cabinet's footprint without changing the rack itself.

How do I run cable into a sealed cabinet?

Through top and bottom knockouts, riser-base clearance, or a cable chase kit. Plan the entry point before the cabinet is placed — retrofitting a cable path into a loaded cabinet is the expensive version of this decision.
