Lightware TPS extenders carry HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, Ethernet, RS-232 and IR over a single CATx cable using HDBaseT, with PoE so the remote end needs no local power supply.

Where TPS fits

TPS is the default choice for in-building runs. One shielded twisted pair cable replaces a bundle, and PoE means the receiver behind a display needs no outlet — which is usually what makes a clean install possible behind a wall-mounted screen or inside a lectern.

Cable quality decides reliability more than the extender does. HDBaseT over marginal cable produces intermittent dropouts that look like equipment faults and are not. Specify shielded CATx and terminate it properly, and keep the run inside the rated distance for the resolution in use — 4K reduces reach compared with 1080p.

Floorbox and furniture versions

FP floorbox models drop the transmitter into a floor or table box, which suits conference tables and lecture theatre positions where the source connects at the seat rather than at the rack.
