Complete Cambridge Sound Qt X sound masking kits — controller, emitters and the cabling to connect them, sized by square footage and pre-configured for masking, paging and background music from one system.

Sized by coverage, not by room count

Each kit pairs a Qt X controller with a set number of active emitters, and the coverage figure is what to specify against. Emitters are laid out on a grid across the ceiling rather than placed per room, so an open floor and a corridor of private offices with the same square footage need broadly the same emitter count.

The kits run from 400 SF for a single office or reception area up to 12,000 SF for a full floor. Qt X 300 covers smaller deployments; Qt X 600 handles higher emitter counts and more zones.

Zones matter as much as area

A one-zone system applies the same masking level everywhere. Multi-zone lets an open plan area, a private office corridor and a reception run at different levels — which is usually what a real floor plate needs, since masking that is comfortable in open plan is often too loud outside a closed door.

Specify zones from the floor plan before choosing the kit. Adding zones later means recabling.

Three systems in one

These kits carry masking, paging and background music on the same emitters and the same cable. That is the argument against installing a separate overhead paging system: one infrastructure, one ceiling penetration count, one commissioning visit.

What is not in the kit

Kits include the controller, emitters and connecting cable. Not included: zone room controls for local level adjustment, plenum or rack mount hardware for the controller, and any additional power supplies for larger emitter counts. Those are listed separately and are worth pulling onto the same purchase order.

Commissioning is what makes it work

A sound masking system that is installed but not tuned is just noise. The masking spectrum has to be measured and adjusted against the actual room acoustics and furniture — and that tuning is the difference between speech privacy and staff complaining about hiss.
