Product Overview

This Cambridge Qt X 600 kit is sized for a large multi-department office of up to about 9,600 sq ft, configured around four zones rather than the controller's full six. It pairs one Qt X 600 controller with twenty-four E-P-W-16-4 packs, for ninety-six white Qt Active Emitters with 16 ft patch cables — 24 emitters per zone across 4 zones, the same per-zone density as Creation Networks' 4,800 sq ft kit, just with twice as many zones activated. This suits a building with four genuinely distinct large areas, while leaving 2 more zones available on the same hardware if the floor plan is later subdivided further. Actual coverage depends on ceiling height and layout.

What's Included

  • 1 x Cambridge Sound Qt X 600 6-zone sound masking controller (911.0069.900), configured for 4 active zones in this kit
  • 24 x Cambridge Sound Qt E-P-W-16-4 Active Emitter 4-packs, white, each with 4 x 16 ft patch cables (911.0899.900) — 96 emitters total, 24 per zone

Required, sold separately: Qt Active Emitters are powered through Cambridge PS-AE-3 Active Emitter Power Supplies and PI-AE power injectors installed next to the first emitter on each run — with 24 emitters per zone, each zone needs at least one PI-AE injector (each channel covers up to 25 active emitters), so plan on multiple injectors and PS-AE-3 supplies across the four zones.

Cambridge Sound Qt X 600 + 24x Active Emitter (E-P-W-16-4) Kit, 4-Zone Configuration – 9,600 SF Sound Masking, Paging & Music (TAA) - Creation Networks

Product Description

The Qt X 600 is a compact, networked sound masking controller with six controllable outputs, each with A and B cable runs, supporting up to 50 Qt Active Emitters per run — up to 100 per output. This kit activates 4 of the 6 available outputs, each carrying 24 emitters, well under any single output's capacity. That leaves 2 zones unused and available on the same hardware if the building is later reconfigured into more distinct areas — only additional cabling and emitter packs are needed, not a new controller. Each active zone can be set to its own masking level, paging and music level, and spectrum, so four separate departments or areas can each be tuned independently rather than sharing one blended setting. Two analog inputs per zone bring in a paging source and a background music player, and the AVB network port lets multiple Qt X controllers share audio if the deployment later spans more than one building. The Qt Active Emitters are direct-field ceiling emitters: the driver faces the room, so masking spreads evenly and paging stays intelligible across each zone.

Why "active" matters: Cambridge's Qt Active Emitters are the powered version of the company's direct-field emitter line — each unit has its own integral amplifier, rather than relying only on the controller's output like the original passive Qt Emitter. Per Cambridge's own spec sheet, that integral amplifier delivers 17 dB more output than the original passive design. Masking level is unaffected either way (both stay in the same 30–60 dBA comfort range), but that extra headroom is exactly what lets a single ceiling emitter double as a paging and music speaker rather than a masking-only device — announcements and background music play back clearly at up to 74 dBA across all four zones independently. The tradeoff is that active emitters need their own low-voltage power, which is why the PS-AE-3 supplies and PI-AE injectors are called out above as required, sold separately.

Cambridge Sound Qt X 600 + 24x Active Emitter (E-P-W-16-4) Kit, 4-Zone Configuration – 9,600 SF Sound Masking, Paging & Music (TAA) - Creation Networks

Creation Networks offers several Qt Active Emitter kits built around the same emitter pack. Choose by coverage area and zoning:

Kit Controller Emitters Approx. Kit Coverage*
400 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 4 (1 x E-P-W-16-4) ~400 sq ft
800 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 8 (2 x E-P-W-16-4) ~800 sq ft
1,600 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 16 (4 x E-P-W-16-4) ~1,600 sq ft
2,400 sq ft kit Qt X 600, 6 zones 24 (6 x E-P-W-16-4) ~2,400 sq ft
4,800 sq ft kit Qt X 600, 2 of 6 zones used 48 (12 x E-P-W-16-4) ~4,800 sq ft
9,600 sq ft kit (this kit) Qt X 600, 4 of 6 zones used 96 (24 x E-P-W-16-4) ~9,600 sq ft
12,000 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 1 of 3 zones fully loaded 100 (25 x E-P-W-16-4) ~12,000 sq ft

*Coverage estimates assume roughly 100 sq ft per emitter; actual layout depends on ceiling height and type.

Key Features

  • Sized for About 9,600 sq ft — Ninety-six active emitters across four zones cover a large multi-department office.
  • Four Independent Zones — Each zone's masking level, aux level, and spectrum are set separately, matched to four genuinely distinct departments or areas.
  • Two Zones in Reserve — The same Qt X 600 hardware has 2 more outputs available if the floor plan is later subdivided further — no controller swap required.
  • Masking, Paging, and Music — One ceiling emitter network per zone carries speech privacy masking, overhead paging, and background music.
  • Active, Amplified Emitters — Integral amplifiers deliver 17 dB more output than Cambridge's original passive Qt Emitter, the headroom that makes paging and music intelligible from the ceiling.
  • Expandable to 72,000 sq ft — Add E-P-W emitter packs and activate the remaining zones on the same Qt X 600 as the facility grows.
  • Networked Management — AVB networking lets multiple Qt X controllers share audio across larger deployments.
  • Plenum-Rated Emitters — Emitters are ETL listed and evaluated to UL 2043 for installation in air handling spaces.
  • Five-Year Warranty — Both the Qt X 600 and the Qt Active Emitters are covered by Biamp's five-year warranty.

Typical Applications

  • Large multi-department corporate office
  • Government facility with four distinct wings or divisions
  • Large healthcare facility with multiple departments
  • Higher education administrative building

Frequently Asked Questions

Why only 4 zones on a 6-zone controller?
This kit is sized for four genuinely distinct large areas or departments. Using 4 outputs at 24 emitters each keeps every zone independently tunable while leaving 2 zones in reserve on the same hardware if the space is subdivided further later.

Can I activate the remaining 2 zones later?
Yes. This is the identical 6-zone Qt X 600 controller used in the other Qt X 600 kits — nothing is disabled in hardware. The remaining zones just need emitter packs assigned and wired to the unused outputs.

What does "active" mean on these emitters, and why does it matter?
Active emitters have their own integral amplifier rather than depending only on the controller for output. Cambridge's own spec sheet documents 17 dB more output than the original passive Qt Emitter design — that headroom is what allows the same ceiling emitter to reproduce paging and music clearly (up to 74 dBA) rather than being limited to masking noise alone.

What else do I need to power 96 active emitters across 4 zones?
Each PI-AE power injector channel supports up to 25 active emitters, so each 24-emitter zone needs at least one PI-AE and matching PS-AE-3 supply — plan power infrastructure per zone during design based on actual run lengths.

Can this system handle paging and background music independently in each zone?
Yes. Each active zone has its own analog inputs for a paging source and a music player, and the same active emitters reproduce both alongside that zone's masking signal.

What warranty and support are included?
The Qt X 600 and Qt Active Emitters carry Biamp's five-year warranty. Creation Networks provides sound masking design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support nationwide.
