Product Overview

This Cambridge Qt X 300 kit is sized for a large single-floor deployment of up to about 12,000 sq ft, built around one zone loaded to its full capacity. It pairs one Qt X 300 controller with 25 E-P-W-16-4 packs, for 100 white Qt Active Emitters with 16 ft patch cables — exactly the maximum an output on this controller supports. This suits a large, mostly open floor that's still functionally one space, while leaving the controller's other two zones available if the floor plan is later subdivided into distinct areas. Actual achievable coverage depends heavily on ceiling height, emitter spacing, and layout — talk to Creation Networks about a site-specific design for a deployment at this scale.

What's Included

  • 1 x Cambridge Sound Qt X 300 3-zone sound masking controller (911.0078.900), configured for 1 fully-loaded zone in this kit
  • 25 x Cambridge Sound Qt E-P-W-16-4 Active Emitter 4-packs, white, each with 4 x 16 ft patch cables (911.0899.900) — 100 emitters total, one output's full rated capacity

Required, sold separately: Qt Active Emitters are powered through Cambridge PS-AE-3 Active Emitter Power Supplies and PI-AE power injectors installed throughout the run — at 100 emitters on a single zone, plan on multiple PI-AE units (each channel covers up to 25 active emitters) and PS-AE-3 supplies (each covers up to 3 injectors), engineered for the specific run lengths on site.

Cambridge Qt X 300 sound masking controller with one zone loaded to full 100-emitter capacity

Product Description

The Qt X 300 is a compact, networked sound masking controller with three controllable outputs, each with A and B cable runs supporting up to 50 Qt Active Emitters per run — 100 emitters per output at maximum. This kit loads a single output to that full 100-emitter capacity, sized for one large, mostly contiguous floor rather than several smaller distinct areas. The two remaining outputs stay available on the same controller if the space is later divided — no hardware swap needed, only additional emitter packs and cabling to activate a second or third zone. At this coverage estimate (~120 sq ft per emitter, wider than the spacing used on Creation Networks' smaller office-suite kits), a single zone can reasonably cover a large open floor with a standard commercial ceiling grid. Two analog inputs bring in a paging source and a background music player for the active zone, and the AVB network port lets multiple Qt X controllers share audio if the deployment later spans more than one floor. The Qt Active Emitters are direct-field ceiling emitters: the driver faces the room, so masking spreads evenly and paging stays intelligible across the full floor rather than degrading with distance from a central speaker.

Why "active" matters: Cambridge's Qt Active Emitters are the powered version of the company's direct-field emitter line — each unit has its own integral amplifier, rather than relying only on the controller's output like the original passive Qt Emitter. Per Cambridge's own spec sheet, that integral amplifier delivers 17 dB more output than the original passive design. Masking level is unaffected either way (both stay in the same 30–60 dBA comfort range), but that extra headroom is exactly what lets a single ceiling emitter double as a paging and music speaker rather than a masking-only device — a real consideration at 100-emitter scale, where consistent output across every emitter keeps paging intelligible evenly across a large floor.

Cambridge Qt E-P-W-16-4 white active emitter 4-pack with patch cables

Creation Networks offers several Qt Active Emitter kits built around the same emitter pack. Choose by coverage area and zoning:

Kit Controller Emitters Approx. Kit Coverage*
400 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 4 (1 x E-P-W-16-4) ~400 sq ft
800 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 8 (2 x E-P-W-16-4) ~800 sq ft
1,600 sq ft kit Qt X 300, 3 zones 16 (4 x E-P-W-16-4) ~1,600 sq ft
2,400 sq ft kit Qt X 600, 6 zones 24 (6 x E-P-W-16-4) ~2,400 sq ft
4,800 sq ft kit Qt X 600, 2 of 6 zones used 48 (12 x E-P-W-16-4) ~4,800 sq ft
12,000 sq ft kit (this kit) Qt X 300, 1 of 3 zones fully loaded 100 (25 x E-P-W-16-4) ~12,000 sq ft

*Coverage estimates for the smaller kits assume roughly 100 sq ft per emitter; this kit uses a wider ~120 sq ft per emitter estimate more typical of large open floors with standard commercial ceiling grids. Actual layout depends on ceiling height and type.

Key Features

  • Sized for About 12,000 sq ft — One hundred active emitters cover a large, mostly open single floor.
  • One Zone Fully Loaded — Configured around a single output at its full 100-emitter capacity, matched to floor plans that are still functionally one large space.
  • Two Zones in Reserve — The same Qt X 300 hardware has 2 more outputs available if the floor is later subdivided — no controller swap required.
  • Masking, Paging, and Music — One ceiling emitter network carries speech privacy masking, overhead paging, and background music.
  • Active, Amplified Emitters — Integral amplifiers deliver 17 dB more output than Cambridge's original passive Qt Emitter, the headroom that makes paging and music intelligible from the ceiling at scale.
  • Networked Management — AVB networking lets multiple Qt X controllers share audio if the deployment expands to more floors later.
  • Plenum-Rated Emitters — Emitters are ETL listed and evaluated to UL 2043 for installation in air handling spaces.
  • Five-Year Warranty — Both the Qt X 300 and the Qt Active Emitters are covered by Biamp's five-year warranty.

Typical Applications

  • Large open-plan corporate floor
  • Large call center or single-department facility
  • Government space
  • Higher education administrative floor

Frequently Asked Questions

Why only 1 zone on a 3-zone controller?
This kit is sized for a large floor that's still functionally one space rather than several distinct areas. Loading a single output to its full 100-emitter capacity covers that floor while leaving 2 zones in reserve on the same hardware if the space is later divided.

Can I activate more zones later?
Yes. This is the identical Qt X 300 controller used in the smaller 3-zone kits — nothing is disabled in hardware. Additional zones just need emitter packs assigned and wired to the unused outputs.

Why does the coverage estimate use different spacing than the smaller kits?
The smaller kits use a conservative ~100 sq ft per emitter sized for office suites. At 12,000 sq ft on a large open floor with a standard commercial ceiling grid, emitters are typically spaced further apart (~120 sq ft per emitter) — both figures are accurate for their respective contexts.

What does "active" mean on these emitters, and why does it matter at this scale?
Active emitters have their own integral amplifier rather than depending only on the controller for output. Cambridge's own spec sheet documents 17 dB more output than the original passive Qt Emitter design — that consistent output is what keeps paging intelligible evenly across a large floor.

What else do I need to power 100 active emitters?
Each PI-AE power injector channel supports up to 25 active emitters, so 100 emitters will need at least 4 PI-AE units and matching PS-AE-3 supplies — plan power infrastructure during design based on actual run lengths.

What warranty and support are included?
The Qt X 300 and Qt Active Emitters carry Biamp's five-year warranty. Creation Networks provides sound masking design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support nationwide.
