What NetLinx does

NetLinx is the logic layer. It powers on displays, selects sources, sets volume, lowers screens, dims lights and reports status back — from a touch panel, a button panel, a scheduling system or an occupancy sensor. Everything else in the rack does one job; this decides when they do it.

Controller sizing

Choose by the number of devices and the control ports each needs — serial, IR, relay, IP. Count the ports the room actually requires and leave headroom, because adding a controller later means revisiting the program as well as the rack.

Programming is the real cost

A NetLinx system is only as good as its program. Budget for the programming and for the documentation that lets somebody else maintain it — an undocumented control system is a liability the moment the original programmer moves on.
