High-impact engagement you can see
Meetings in large and high-profile spaces become more productive and engaging when every participant—remote or in-person—can interact naturally. Crestron Automate VX delivers an intelligent video experience using advanced speaker tracking, Visual AI-assisted framing, and multiple high-quality optical zoom cameras. This automated, multi-camera solution ensures the active speaker is always in view, eliminating distractions and allowing participants to focus on the conversation—not the technology. Ideal for hybrid meetings in executive boardrooms, auditoriums, and large collaboration spaces, Automate VX brings professional-grade video clarity and effortless engagement to every meeting.
The Crestron 1 Beyond Automate VX Series camera switching systems bring a full multicamera studio experience to meetings, town halls, and classrooms. Crestron 1 Beyond cameras automatically switch based on the location of the active speaking participant. Visual AI enhanced camera switching intelligently frames camera shots with the participants centered.

Crestron Microphones for Intelligent Audio and Hybrid Conferencing
Automate VX relies on audio data from microphones to switch the camera shot to an active speaking participant. Automate VX is compatible with intelligent array microphones, standard microphones with their audio routed through a DSP, and discussion systems.
Each of the different microphone device systems available with Automate VX behave differently, so select the appropriate system for the room. For more information on implementing different microphone systems, refer to Microphone Implementation.
Compatible Microphones
The following sections detail the microphone systems that are compatible with Automate VX.
Intelligent Array Microphones
Positional microphones are most commonly used with Automate VX. Multiple intelligent array microphones can be positioned around the room to gather audio position data from speaking participants. Automate VX uses this data to switch camera shots to ensure that the speaking participant is accurately captured.
When designing an Automate VX project, intelligent array microphones should be used if possible. To determine if a positional microphone can provide accurate positional data for a speaking position, perform a Proximity Check in Room Designer with the desired microphone device. For more information on Proximity Check, refer to Proximity Check.
The following positional microphones are compatible with Automate VX:
-
Shure® MXA920
-
Sennheiser TCCM
Other Microphones
The following microphones use a lobe architecture rather than XYZ positional data for audio input. For more information on configuring a lobe architecture microphone in Room Designer, refer to Model .

-
Shure MXA920 Lobe
Wired and Wireless Discussion Systems for Structured Meetings
Discussion systems are essential for structured communication in boardrooms, council chambers, and conference settings. These systems typically include a microphone, speaker, and a central control unit to manage audio flow. A key feature of discussion systems is their ability to indicate microphone status—whether active or inactive—ensuring orderly participation. There are two main types: push-to-talk discussion systems and voice-activated discussion systems, both of which are available in wired or wireless configurations to suit a wide range of installation needs. The following discussion systems are compatible with Automate VX:
-
Shure MXCW

-
Audio-Technica® ATUC-50 (beta)
Crestron Wired and Wireless Microphones for Professional AV Integration
Gooseneck microphones, tabletop microphones, button microphones, and other wired microphones that do not provide positional data when detecting audio are compatible with Automate VX. Wireless microphones such as lavalier microphones are compatible with Automate VX as well. Wired and wireless microphones require a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) to operate with Automate VX.
NOTE: Pendant microphones are not compatible with Automate VX.
DSPs for Scalable, High-Performance Audio Processing
When using wired or wireless microphones without positional data in a Crestron Automate VX system, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is required. The DSP manages audio routing by gating microphones—activating them when speech is detected and deactivating them when silent. These gated audio signals are then used by Automate VX to determine which camera presets or speaker views should be triggered. This setup enables accurate camera switching and intelligent video control without the need for specialized microphones with built-in tracking.
The following DSPs are compatible with Automate VX:
Note: The channel limits listed for each DSP are the maximum audio channels that Automate VX can use with the DSP. For more information about DSPs and configuring them to communicate with Automate VX, refer to DSP Configuration.
