The situation
Dykema's Dallas office sits on floors 41 and 42 at 1717 Main Street. The firm already ran its meetings on Microsoft Teams, so the brief was to put the office's meeting spaces on one Microsoft Teams Rooms standard.
The scope of work named eight rooms. Two conference rooms on floor 41 (4141 and 4167) needed full video, a room PC, a table HDMI input and wireless sharing. Conference Rooms B (4204) and C (4205) on floor 42 needed the same Teams experience built around conferencing equipment the firm already owned.
The boardroom, Conference Room A (4203), needed a 98-inch display, a Crestron-based Teams system and the ability to send overflow audio to reception. Reception needed ceiling speakers for that overflow and for background music. The work café and break room needed large displays for streaming, with no conferencing at all. The ninth space was the IDF room (4271), where the boardroom's head-end would live.
That mix is typical of corporate and professional-services AV work: one platform, but rooms with very different jobs. It is also why a single conference room AV template would not have fit every space.
What made nine spaces hard to standardize?
The spaces did four different jobs. Two rooms needed our full signal chain, two needed owner-furnished gear integrated, one needed a head-end system, and three needed audio or displays only.
Conference Rooms B and C came with owner-furnished conferencing equipment. In Room B that was a Biamp MRB-M-X400-C bundle, a Logitech Rally Plus kit and a Logitech Tap. In Room C it was a Logitech Rally Bar, a Tap, a Logitech Swytch and the display itself. We had to fit those parts into the same Teams standard as the rooms we supplied from scratch.
The boardroom and reception share one audio system. The boardroom DSP, matrix and control processor sit in the IDF, away from the room. The reception speakers run from the same Tesira network, so both spaces had to be designed as one system.
Ceiling types also varied. A change order added four Biamp Parlé TCM-X-DK drywall ceiling attachments and two Desono SPA-RAIL48 tile rail kits so the ceiling microphones and speakers could be mounted properly.
How did we design the room standard?
Conference Rooms 4141 and 4167
These two rooms share one build. A Biamp MRB-L-X400-C bundle supplies a TesiraFORTE X 400 DSP, a Parlé TCM-XA and a Parlé TCM-XEX beamtracking ceiling microphone, and four Desono C-IC6 ceiling speakers. The ceiling microphones leave the table free of audio hardware.
A Lenovo ThinkSmart Core runs Microsoft Teams Rooms, and a Logitech Tap controls it. A Logitech Rally Camera mounts below two Sony FW-65BZ40H 65-inch commercial displays on Chief TS325TU dual-arm mounts. A Crestron DM Lite HD-TX-101-C-E and HD-RX-101-C-E pair carries the table HDMI input. A ScreenBeam 1100 Plus with an SBUSBSW4 USB switch handles wireless sharing. All support equipment sits behind the displays.
Our AV design and engineering team drew both rooms on one signal-flow sheet, so the two builds match.
The same build later carried over to the firm's Lansing, Michigan boardroom, which we cover in how the firm's AV standard expanded from one office to three.
Conference Rooms B and C
Room B runs the firm's own MRB-M-X400-C bundle (one TCM-XA microphone and two C-IC6 speakers) and Logitech Rally Plus kit. We added two Sony FW-65BZ40H displays, Chief mounts and tile rails. Room C is built around the firm's Logitech Rally Bar, an all-in-one video bar mounted below an owner-furnished 55-inch display. Both rooms use a Lenovo room PC and a Logitech Tap, so they work like 4141 and 4167.
The boardroom
Conference Room A runs a Crestron UC-CX100-T Flex Advanced kit for Microsoft Teams Rooms. A wall-mounted Logitech Rally Camera handles video. An NEC C981Q 98-inch display hangs on a Chief XTM1U mount with an FCAV1U pull-out. Two black Parlé TCM-XA and two TCM-XEX ceiling microphones pick up the room, and six Desono C-IC6 speakers play it back.
The room takes four sources: a floor box HDMI input, the Crestron UC engine, a Crestron UC presentation input and an Autonomic music streamer. An AVPro Edge AC-MX-44HDBT matrix in the IDF routes one source at a time to the display. That keeps the room itself to what people see and touch, a common approach in boardroom AV.
A Crestron CP4 runs the room. From the touch panel or Crestron XPanel, staff set the volume, choose the input, turn the display on and off, and send overflow audio to reception. Tying those functions together is control and DSP programming work, not out-of-box setup.
Reception, work café and break room
Reception has six Desono C-IC6 ceiling speakers on a Biamp Tesira AMP-450BP amplifier. They play boardroom overflow or music from the Autonomic streamer, chosen from the boardroom touch panel. Music and overflow are the two jobs this reception area audio system does. Staff control the music itself from the TuneBridge app on an owner-furnished device.
The work café has two Sony FW-65BZ40H displays, one on a Chief LTTU tilt mount and one on an articulating TS325TU arm. The break room has one Sony FW-75BZ40H 75-inch display on a Chief TS525TU. Both spaces run streaming apps on the displays, with no cameras or microphones.

What runs in the IDF rack?
The boardroom head-end lives in IDF room 4271, in a rack the firm already owned. We added Middle Atlantic U2V-4 vented shelves and two D10-PFP power distributors to hold and power it.
A Netgear M4250-26G4F-PoE+ managed switch sits at the center. It has 24 PoE+ ports and a 300 W PoE budget. It carries AVB audio and control for the TesiraFORTE AVB CI, the EX-UBT expander, the Parlé microphone network boxes and the reception amplifier. The Crestron CP4 and the UC engine connect to it as well.
Most runs use unshielded plenum Cat6. The HDBaseT runs use shielded Cat6: one from the AC-MX-44HDBT matrix to the AC-EX70-444-RNE receiver at the boardroom display, and one from the floor box transmitter to its receiver. A Crestron USB-EXT-2 KIT carries the Rally Camera's USB link from the boardroom wall to the UC engine in the rack.
The conference rooms stay self-contained. Their DSP, PC and extenders mount behind the displays. The rack also holds an owner-furnished cable receiver. Planning that split between in-room equipment and the central rack is part of our AV integration services.
The rollout
The equipment list went through a revision cycle before anything shipped. The pick list reached its sixth revision, and a change order added the drywall microphone attachments and tile rail kits. The final list marks every owner-furnished item, so the order covered only what we supplied.
Our daily logs record three consecutive days of field work, with up to three technicians on site. Each technician took specific rooms, so several rooms moved forward at once.
- Day one: displays, cameras, terminations and behind-display equipment in Conference Rooms 4141 and 4204.
- Day two: displays and cameras in Conference Room C and the break room, plus room PCs, speakers and microphones in 4141 and 4167.
- Day three: wiring behind the displays in 4141 and 4167, and the break room and work café displays.
Rooms with this many connected parts drift out of spec when nobody checks them. Firmware, Teams Rooms updates and certificates keep moving after the crew leaves, which is what our AV maintenance and support plans are for.
Frequently Asked Questions — Microsoft Teams Rooms Across a Multi-Room Law Office
Answers to the questions IT directors and office managers ask most often about standardizing Teams Rooms across conference rooms, a boardroom and shared spaces.
Can every conference room in an office run Microsoft Teams Rooms without identical hardware in each room?
Yes: at Dykema’s Dallas office, Creation Networks put Microsoft Teams Rooms in all five video rooms using three hardware sets, a Biamp MRB-L-X400-C bundle with a Logitech Rally Camera in two rooms, owner-furnished Logitech Rally equipment in two more, and a Crestron UC-CX100-T Flex kit in the boardroom.
Attorneys see the same Teams interface on a Logitech Tap or on the boardroom’s Crestron touch panel. The hardware behind it changes with the room, from a Biamp large-room bundle in 4141 and 4167 to an all-in-one Logitech Rally Bar in Conference Room C.
What makes a law firm boardroom’s AV different from its standard conference rooms?
In Dykema’s Dallas boardroom, Creation Networks installed a Crestron UC-CX100-T Flex Advanced kit, an NEC C981Q 98-inch display, four Biamp Parlé ceiling microphones and six Desono ceiling speakers, with the DSP, matrix switcher and Crestron CP4 control processor placed in the IDF rather than behind the display.
The boardroom also takes more sources than the other rooms: a floor box HDMI input, the Crestron UC engine, a Crestron UC presentation input and the Autonomic music streamer. An AVPro Edge AC-MX-44HDBT matrix routes them one at a time. From the touch panel or XPanel, staff set volume, pick the input, switch the display and send overflow audio to reception.
Do a break room and work café need the same AV as the conference rooms?
No: in Dykema’s Dallas office, Creation Networks gave the work café two Sony FW-65BZ40H 65-inch displays and the break room one Sony FW-75BZ40H 75-inch display, each running streaming apps on the display itself, with no cameras, microphones, DSP or room PC in either space.
The two work café screens use different mounts. One sits on a Chief LTTU tilt mount, and the other sits on a Chief TS325TU articulating arm that pulls out from the wall. Leaving conferencing out of these rooms keeps the equipment matched to how the rooms are used.
How can boardroom audio play in a reception area during a large meeting?
At Dykema’s Dallas office, Creation Networks wired six Biamp Desono C-IC6 ceiling speakers in reception to a Biamp Tesira AMP-450BP PoE+ amplifier, fed over AVB from the boardroom’s TesiraFORTE AVB CI, so staff can send overflow boardroom audio to reception from the boardroom touch panel.
The amplifier sits on the same AVB network as the boardroom DSP. The overflow feed travels over that network rather than a dedicated audio run between the two spaces. The same six speakers play background music when no overflow is running.
What plays background music in a law office reception area?
In Dykema’s Dallas reception, an Autonomic AU-MMS-1E eSeries music streamer in the IDF rack feeds the Biamp Tesira system, and Creation Networks set up the six reception ceiling speakers to play either music from that streamer or overflow audio from the boardroom, one source at a time.
Staff choose between the two sources from the boardroom’s Crestron touch panel or the Crestron XPanel. The music itself is controlled from the TuneBridge app on an owner-furnished device. The streamer is also one of the four sources the boardroom display can select.
Can an AV integrator install owner-furnished conferencing equipment alongside new equipment?
Yes: in two of Dykema’s Dallas conference rooms, Creation Networks installed owner-furnished conferencing gear, a Biamp MRB-M-X400-C bundle with a Logitech Rally Plus kit in Conference Room B and a Logitech Rally Bar with Swytch in Conference Room C, alongside new Sony displays and Chief mounts in Room B.
Both rooms still run Microsoft Teams Rooms with a Logitech Tap, so they behave like the rooms we supplied from scratch. We also added Desono SPA-RAIL48 tile rails in both rooms. The pick list marks each owner-furnished item, so the project records show which parts the firm supplied.
Does a boardroom head-end need a new equipment rack?
No: for Dykema’s Dallas boardroom, Creation Networks built the head-end in the firm’s own rack in IDF room 4271, adding Middle Atlantic U2V-4 vented shelves, two D10-PFP power distributors and a Netgear M4250-26G4F-PoE+ switch around the DSP, the matrix switcher and the Crestron CP4 control processor.
The rack also holds an owner-furnished cable receiver. Keeping the boardroom equipment in the IDF left the wall behind the 98-inch display to the HDBaseT receiver, the camera and the mount.
What network switch runs the AV equipment in a multi-room Teams Rooms office?
In Dykema’s Dallas IDF, Creation Networks installed a Netgear M4250-26G4F-PoE+ managed switch with 24 PoE+ ports and a 300 W PoE budget, carrying the AVB audio and control traffic for the boardroom’s Biamp Tesira system, the reception amplifier, the Crestron CP4 and the Crestron UC engine.
The Biamp Parlé microphones connect through powered network boxes, and the Tesira AMP-450BP amplifier runs on PoE+. On a system like this, the switch’s power budget matters as much as its port count.
How do you extend a USB camera from a boardroom to equipment in an IDF?
At Dykema’s Dallas boardroom, Creation Networks ran the wall-mounted Logitech Rally Camera USB link over Cat6 with a Crestron USB-EXT-2 KIT, so the camera reaches the Crestron UC-CX100-T engine in the IDF rack while the display wall holds only the camera, the HDBaseT receiver and the mount.
Video takes a similar path the other way. The AVPro Edge AC-MX-44HDBT matrix sends HDBaseT over shielded Cat6 to an AC-EX70-444-RNE receiver at the NEC C981Q display.
How is a multi-room office AV installation sequenced?
At Dykema’s Dallas office, Creation Networks’ daily logs show three consecutive days of field work, starting with displays, cameras and terminations in Conference Rooms 4141 and 4204, then room PCs, speakers and microphones, and finishing with wiring behind the displays and the break room and work café screens.
Up to three technicians worked on site. Each one took specific rooms, so several rooms moved forward at the same time rather than one after another.
Why does a conference room equipment list change before installation?
On Dykema’s Dallas refresh, the Creation Networks pick list reached its sixth revision before installation, and a change order added four Biamp Parlé TCM-X-DK drywall ceiling attachments and two Desono SPA-RAIL48 tile rail kits for mounting the ceiling microphones and loudspeakers.
The final list also marks every owner-furnished item in Conference Rooms B and C. That separates what the firm supplied from what we supplied, so the equipment order covered only the new parts.
