Meyer Sound UPQ and UPM point source loudspeakers for permanent installation — sanctuaries, performing arts venues, auditoriums, lecture halls and covered outdoor spaces where the loudspeaker is mounted once and has to hold its coverage without further attention. Both series are self-powered, with amplification and processing matched to the drivers inside each cabinet.

UPQ-D1, D2 and D3

The UPQ series is a 15-inch two-way active loudspeaker built for fixed installs needing precise directional pattern control. The three models are acoustically similar and differ in horizontal coverage, which lets a designer match dispersion to the room geometry rather than applying one pattern everywhere and correcting later. Weather-protected versions are specified for covered exterior and high-humidity locations. Cradle-style yoke kits, pickup array plates and eye bolt kits handle the mounting.

UPM-1P and UPM-1XP

UPM is the ultracompact end of the range — a 2x5-inch cabinet for fill, under-balcony coverage, delay positions and small rooms where a UPQ would be too much box. The 1XP is available with EN-3 and Phoenix connectors in standard and weather-resistant builds, so the connector scheme can stay consistent with the rest of an installed system. Mounting yokes, U-brackets and HD nutplate brackets are stocked alongside.

Choosing between them

Start with throw distance and required SPL at the furthest seat, then pick the coverage pattern from the room's width and depth. UPQ carries the main coverage in mid-size and larger rooms; UPM fills the zones the mains do not reach cleanly. The two are routinely specified together in one design. Where the loudspeaker needs to disappear into the architecture instead, the Ashby in-ceiling and miniature range is the better fit; where a line array is warranted, LEOPARD and LINA take over.
