Product Overview
The Meyer Sound UPM-1P is a self-powered, ultracompact wide-coverage loudspeaker engineered for professional sound reinforcement where a small, inconspicuous enclosure must still deliver high sound pressure levels with very low distortion. Driven by a two-channel amplifier with active crossover and phase-correction circuitry, it provides true point-source performance and symmetrical 100° by 100° coverage. The cabinet accepts balanced audio through a 3-pin XLR input with a looping male output for straightforward signal distribution. It serves equally well as a compact main PA, a frontfill, or a delay loudspeaker in larger indoor and outdoor systems.
Product Description

The UPM-1P combines two 5-inch low-frequency cone drivers with a 1-inch metal dome tweeter mounted on a symmetrical, constant-directivity high-frequency horn. The two woofers operate in parallel below 320 Hz to combine their acoustic output, while one driver rolls off above that frequency to prevent comb filtering and maintain consistent midrange response. Onboard processing handles equalization, signal division, phase alignment, and driver protection, and a laser-trimmed differential input stage provides strong common-mode rejection for long shielded twisted-pair cable runs. The switchable 115/230 V AC power supply includes EMI filtering, soft turn-on, and surge suppression, with dual PowerCON connectors for AC looping between cabinets. For an externally powered IntelligentDC alternative, consider the Meyer Sound UPM-1XP, and pair the UPM-1P with the Meyer Sound 750-LFC low-frequency control element to extend the system to full range. Key Features
- UltraCompact Format — The trapezoidal birch enclosure measures just 6.93 inches wide by 18 inches tall, fitting discreetly into installations where a larger loudspeaker would be visually intrusive.
- Two-Way Self-Powered Design — Two 5-inch cone drivers and a 1-inch metal dome tweeter are driven by an integrated two-channel amplifier with 650 W peak output capability.
- Point-Source Crossover — A unique crossover topology rolls one woofer off above 320 Hz to eliminate comb filtering and preserve a consistent midrange response across the listening area.
- Wide Symmetrical Coverage — Matched 100° horizontal and 100° vertical coverage allows the loudspeaker to serve broad listening areas with uniform directional control.
- Low Distortion — Total harmonic, intermodulation, and transient intermodulation distortion remain below 0.02 percent for clean reproduction of speech and music.
- Balanced XLR Input with Loop — A 3-pin female XLR input with male loop output and 10 kΩ differential impedance supports long cable runs and signal distribution between units.
- PowerCON AC Looping — Two PowerCON connectors and a switchable 115/230 V supply with surge suppression simplify AC distribution across multiple cabinets.
- Flexible Mounting — Three 3/8-inch-16 or M10 recessed nut plates accept optional U-bracket, yoke, and pole-mount hardware for varied installation orientations.
Typical Applications
- House of Worship — Provides clear vocal reinforcement and frontfill coverage in sanctuaries where the loudspeaker must remain visually unobtrusive.
- Auditorium — Serves as a frontfill or under-balcony delay loudspeaker to maintain intelligibility in seating areas not covered by the main system.
- Multi-Purpose Room — Delivers high SPL from a compact enclosure for events that combine speech and program audio in a single flexible space.
- Commercial Meeting Space — Reinforces presentations and voice content with uniform coverage and low distortion in a discreet package.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the UPM-1P self-powered?
Yes. The UPM-1P includes a two-channel amplifier, active crossover, and driver protection inside the cabinet, requiring only a line-level audio signal and AC power.
What input connector does it use?
It accepts balanced audio through a 3-pin female XLR input with a male loop output for distributing signal to additional cabinets.
Can it be used outdoors?
Standard units are intended for indoor use, but Meyer Sound offers an optional weather-protection treatment of the cabinet for fixed outdoor installations.
How can it be extended to full range?
Pairing the UPM-1P with a Meyer Sound subwoofer such as the 750-LFC adds low-frequency extension for a full-range system.
