When fiber is the answer

Three situations call for it. The run exceeds what twisted pair supports at the required resolution. The path crosses between buildings, where copper introduces a lightning and ground-potential risk that fiber removes entirely. Or the environment carries electrical interference that would degrade a copper link.

Match the fiber type to what is already installed — multi-mode and single-mode are not interchangeable, and the connector type matters too. Where pigtail-terminated models are used, spare pigtail cables are listed separately and worth stocking, since a damaged pigtail on a commissioned system is otherwise a long lead time.
