Product Overview
The Lightware HDMI20-OPTC-TX220-PCN is the transmitter unit of the HDMI20-OPTC-TX/RX220-PCN extender pair, sending HDMI 2.0 uncompressed 4K UHD@60Hz 4:4:4 video at 18 Gbps over a single multimode optical fiber to the companion RX220-PCN receiver at distances up to 700 meters. The Neutrik PowerCON True1 power inlet on this variant makes it the preferred choice for rental and staging, live event production, and broadcast applications where touring-grade power connections are standard. It accepts two HDMI 2.0 inputs and provides a local HDMI 2.0 output for on-site monitoring.
Product Description
The HDMI20-OPTC-TX220-PCN accepts two HDMI 2.0 inputs at 18 Gbps and transmits the selected signal over a single optical fiber to the RX220-PCN receiver, eliminating the need for copper connections or a second fiber to maintain full HDMI 2.0 compliance. A local HDMI 2.0 output on the transmitter allows in-rack or on-stage monitoring of the source signal. The Neutrik PowerCON True1 power inlet and Neutrik OpticalCON DUO optical connector are specified for touring and staging environments, providing secure locking connections on both the power and fiber sides. Two separate Gigabit Ethernet paths — one for device control, one for pass-through — travel over the same fiber link. Bi-directional RS-232 at 9.6 to 57.6 kBaud provides transparent serial control pass-through to remote devices at the receiver end. An LCD menu with jog dial on the transmitter enables on-site EDID setup and status monitoring. Zero-frame video latency is maintained through the entire optical signal chain.
Key Features
- Neutrik PowerCON True1 power inlet — Locking touring-grade power connector for rental and staging power distribution systems.
- Two HDMI 2.0 inputs — Accepts two 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 sources; one is selected for transmission over fiber.
- Local HDMI 2.0 output — On-site monitoring output on the transmitter for source verification without breaking the fiber link.
- Single Fiber Technology — Sends video, two Gigabit Ethernet paths, and RS-232 over a single multimode fiber.
- 700-meter transmission distance — Sends 4K UHD@60Hz 4:4:4 up to 700m over OM3/OM4 multimode fiber.
- Zero frame latency — No frame buffering in the optical signal path; critical for 3D and independent audio chain applications.
- Galvanic isolation — Fiber medium eliminates ground loops between source and display in multi-rack or multi-venue setups.
- Pixel Accurate Reclocking — Eliminates jitter from HDMI sources and chained devices before optical transmission.
- HDR and Dolby Vision — Passes HDR10, HDR12, and Dolby Vision within the 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 signal bandwidth.
- HDCP 2.2 compliant — Supports protected 4K content transmission over fiber.
- LCD menu and jog dial — On-site EDID setup and status display without a laptop or control system connection.
- Advanced EDID Management — Locks EDID from the receiver display to the source for consistent resolution enforcement.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the TX220-PCN include the receiver?
- No. This is the transmitter unit only. The companion receiver is the HDMI20-OPTC-RX220-PCN, sold separately.
- Can I connect two different HDMI sources to the TX220-PCN?
- Yes. The transmitter accepts two HDMI 2.0 inputs. One is selected for transmission over fiber; the local HDMI output mirrors the selected input for on-site monitoring.
- What is the purpose of the local HDMI output on the transmitter?
- The local output allows a monitor at the transmitter end (e.g., in a broadcast rack or on-stage tech position) to display the source signal without breaking the fiber link to the receiver.
- Why choose the PCN variant over FOX or NTQ?
- Choose PCN if your fiber infrastructure uses Neutrik OpticalCON DUO connectors and your power distribution uses Neutrik PowerCON True1 connectors — common in rental, staging, and touring AV environments.
- What fiber cable is needed?
- OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber is recommended for maximum 700m distance at 4K60 4:4:4. OM2 supports up to 300m at full 4K60.
- Is this unit compatible with video wall processors?
- Yes. Lightware documents compatibility with Corvette, Megapixel HELIOS, and Brompton video wall solutions.
- Where can I purchase the HDMI20-OPTC-TX220-PCN?
- Available from Creation Networks, an authorized Lightware commercial AV reseller.
