Product Overview

The Lightware HDMI20-OPTC-RX220-PCN is the receiver unit of the HDMI20-OPTC-TX/RX220-PCN extender pair, providing HDMI 2.0 uncompressed 4K UHD@60Hz 4:4:4 reception over a single multimode optical fiber with a Neutrik PowerCON True1 power inlet. This extender pair targets rental and staging, live event production, and permanent installations in broadcast studios and operation centers where long-distance 4K signal transport without compression or latency is required. It receives HDMI 2.0 signals at 18 Gbps from the companion TX220-PCN transmitter at distances up to 700 meters over OM3/OM4 fiber.

Product Description

The HDMI20-OPTC-RX220-PCN uses Single Fiber Technology to carry uncompressed 4K UHD video at 18 Gbps, two Gigabit Ethernet paths, and bi-directional RS-232 over a single optical fiber — no second fiber or copper connection is required for HDMI compliance. The Neutrik PowerCON True1 power inlet is specified for this variant, making it directly compatible with standard rental and staging power distribution systems used in live events and touring environments. Galvanic isolation between source and display eliminates ground loops and hum artifacts. Video latency is zero frames, which is critical in 3D applications and systems where audio is processed on a separate chain. Pixel Accurate Reclocking eliminates jitter from optical conversion and multi-device chains. The unit supports HDR10, HDR12, and Dolby Vision within the 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 signal bandwidth and is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Advanced EDID Management locks EDID to the connected display to force correct source resolution. The device mounts in a rack shelf or operates standalone; rack ears also protect the optical connectors during transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the RX220-PCN include the transmitter?
No. This is the receiver unit only. The companion transmitter is the HDMI20-OPTC-TX220-PCN, sold separately. Both units are required for a complete extender pair.
Why is the Neutrik PowerCON True1 connector specified on this variant?
PowerCON True1 is the standard power connector used in rental and staging power distribution systems, including touring and live event power grids. It provides a secure, locking connection suitable for mobile and temporary installations.
Is the PCN variant compatible with the same optical cable as other OPTC-220 variants?
Yes. All HDMI20-OPTC-220 variants use LC duplex multimode fiber. The PCN suffix refers only to the Neutrik OpticalCON DUO optical connector and PowerCON True1 power inlet.
What is the difference between the PCN, NTQ, and FOX variants?
All three variants have identical signal performance. The difference is the optical connector: PCN uses Neutrik OpticalCON DUO; NTQ uses Neutrik OpticalCON Quad; FOX uses a Fiberfox connector. Choose based on your fiber connector infrastructure.
Does this unit introduce any latency?
No. The HDMI20-OPTC series introduces zero frame latency. Video is transported through the optical path without frame buffering.
Is the unit compatible with video wall processors?
Yes. Lightware documents compatibility with Corvette, Megapixel HELIOS, and Brompton video wall solutions, among others.
Where can I purchase the HDMI20-OPTC-RX220-PCN?
Available from Creation Networks, an authorized Lightware commercial AV reseller.
