Planar just added two new LED product lines built for a problem most video walls don't solve: what to do when the space isn't a flat rectangle. The Planar Chameleon Series and Planar Mosaic Series, announced September 1, 2026, are architectural LED displays designed for double-sided viewing, custom shapes, and layouts that break out of the standard grid — the kind of thing a lobby, atrium, or branded environment calls for when a conventional video wall would look like an afterthought.
Chameleon Series — One Display, Two Perspectives
Chameleon is built as an ultra-slim, double-sided display — under 2 inches (45mm) deep — that transforms a single display into two unique audience experiences while maximizing valuable space. Lightweight cabinets simplify handling and installation.
It enables independent or synchronized dual-sided content — a reception desk with foot traffic on both sides, a divider wall between two lobby zones, or a freestanding piece meant to be walked around rather than looked at head-on, all running from a single install.
It's built on a versatile 500×500mm cabinet, available in 1.2, 1.5, 1.9, 2.6, and 3.9mm pixel pitches, so a designer can configure display sizes tailored to the space and application without changing platforms.
High-brightness models deliver up to 3,000 nits for environments with heavy ambient light, expanding installation possibilities while maintaining exceptional image quality.
Rounded corner options give designers a choice between complementing surrounding architecture or making a bold visual statement, both delivering a refined, seamless finish, alongside a 90° corner alternative — with four total corner configurations available (standard, rounded top, rounded bottom, or all four rounded).
Finished and protective trim creates a polished appearance while protecting display edges from everyday wear — a clean, architectural finish built for premium digital signage installations.
The cabinet architecture supports hanging configurations, enabling suspended LED displays that maximize visibility while maintaining a clean, architectural appearance.
The same cabinet design supports stacking configurations, enabling free-standing LED displays with flexibility for positioning content within a space while maintaining that clean architectural appearance.
Front-serviceability keeps ongoing maintenance simple — no need to access the display from behind once it's mounted, hung, or stacked in place. Every module is tethered for extra security during service.
Together, the design and finish details are engineered for a polished, space-efficient installation regardless of which of the five pixel pitches a project calls for.

Mosaic Series — Where Creativity Takes Shape
Mosaic is a family of indoor architectural LED displays designed for ultimate creative flexibility, bringing imaginative visual concepts to life with unique shapes, sizes, and layouts that complement virtually any indoor space.
It ships in four cabinet formats — 500×250, 500×500, 750×250, and 1000×250mm — that act as building blocks for creating custom dimensions, shapes, and layouts, rather than filling a fixed rectangle. Video walls can be built with cabinets in mixed orientation of 0 and 90 degrees, including cross- and notch-shaped layouts that incorporate deliberate negative space, like the example below.
Cabinets combine and position vertically or horizontally to fit the space, not the other way around — and Planar built the modules to hold consistent orientation across the entire video wall regardless of cabinet orientation, preserving consistent brightness, color, and viewing angle throughout.
Mounting depth totals 60mm once the mount system is included, and the cabinet's front-service design means techs never need rear access once it's installed.
High Brightness models deliver up to 3,000 nits for brighter indoor environments, expanding the creative possibilities of Mosaic into spaces with higher ambient light while maintaining exceptional visual performance. Available in 1.2, 1.5, 1.9, 2.6, and 3.9mm pixel pitches.
Same five pixel pitches as Chameleon, the same 3,000-nit ceiling for high-brightness models, plus front-serviceability, a power-efficient design, and ADA compliance for easier long-term maintenance and public-sector projects.

| Typical use case | Reception desks, room dividers, freestanding signage viewed from both sides | Lobby feature walls, branded environments, donor walls, shaped architectural installs |
Where this actually fits a corporate or public-sector project
Most of the video walls we spec are still flat rectangles for a good reason — a boardroom or a control room wants a display that behaves predictably. Chameleon and Mosaic are for the other kind of project: a headquarters lobby that wants a piece people notice on the way in, a branded environment in a visitor center, a donor wall in a higher-ed building, or a reception area where the display genuinely needs to work from two sides of the room instead of one. Robert Detwiler, Planar's senior director of product management, framed the launch around exactly that shift — LED is increasingly part of how a space is designed, not just a screen bolted onto it. If the space you're designing around isn't a rectangle, or the display needs to do double duty facing two directions, this is the first time Planar has had a dedicated answer for that instead of a custom fabrication project.
FAQ
Are Chameleon and Mosaic available to order now?
Yes — both series launched through Planar's global network of authorized resellers, which includes Creation Networks.
Can Chameleon run different content on each side?
Yes. The two faces can run independent content or stay synchronized, depending on the application.
What pixel pitch should I spec for a lobby display?
It depends on your closest expected viewing distance. Both series span 1.2mm to 3.9mm, so a tighter pitch (1.2–1.9mm) suits close-up viewing, while 2.6–3.9mm is more appropriate when people will typically view the display from farther back. We can help you match pitch to your actual sightlines before you commit to a configuration.
Do these come in outdoor-rated versions?
Both series are positioned by Planar as indoor architectural LED — they're built for interior spaces, not outdoor exposure. Operating range is 0° to 40°C (32° to 104°F).
Is Mosaic ADA compliant?
Yes, per Planar's published specifications. Chameleon's brochure does not state ADA compliance.
What controller do these need?
Both series are ColorLight-compatible.
