What is the RDL DB-BTN21?

The RDL DB-BTN21 is a wall-mounted Bluetooth Dante interface in a black finish that brings wireless audio from phones, tablets and laptops into a Dante networked sound system. Stereo or summed-mono Bluetooth audio feeds two Dante network channels, and one Dante channel can be routed back to the paired device for full-duplex communication. The module is PoE powered and fits a standard US single-gang electrical box, giving darker-finish rooms a discreet wall-plate audio source.

How does it work?

RDL DB-BTN21 wall-mounted Bluetooth Dante interface, black finish

The DB-BTN21 places received Bluetooth audio on the Dante network as two channels at 48 kHz and 24 bits. Installers select stereo or mono operation in RDL CONSOLE software or by remote control command, and the same software customizes the Bluetooth name, LED dim intensity and dim timeout, which defaults to 30 seconds. Pairing uses a single front-panel button with LED status indication, so presenters connect without special software. A Q-SYS plug-in is available for configuring the module in a Q-SYS environment. Track title, artist and function status are multicast on the network for display on screen-equipped RDL remotes. Compatible remotes such as the RDL DB-NMC1R and RDL DB-NLC1R can control one to eight BTN21 modules, including pairing, track selection and level. Power comes from an IEEE 802.3af Class 0 PoE port over the network cable. Finish the install with the RDL CP-1B single cover plate, DC-1B desktop/wall chassis or SMB-1B surface mount box.

What are the key features?

  • Bluetooth to Dante — Received Bluetooth audio is placed on two Dante channels for routing anywhere on the network.
  • Full-duplex return channel — One Dante channel can be routed back to the paired device for two-way conferencing audio.
  • Single-button pairing — A front-panel button and LED status indicator make pairing simple for guests.
  • Remote control support — Compatible RDL remotes can pair, select tracks and adjust level on one to eight modules.
  • Q-SYS plug-in — A plug-in is available for configuring the module inside a Q-SYS design.
  • PoE powered — The module runs from an IEEE 802.3af Class 0 PoE port with no local power supply.

Where is it typically used?

  • Conference room
  • Huddle room
  • Training room
  • Boardroom
