What does TAA-compliant AV equipment mean?
The Trade Agreements Act restricts federal purchases to products made in the United States or in designated countries, so TAA-compliant AV equipment is hardware that meets that country-of-origin requirement. It matters because a design built around a non-compliant model can fail at the procurement stage after the room has already been budgeted, which is an expensive discovery. Several manufacturers produce specific compliant or government variants — Crestron's government touch panel models are a common example — and availability changes, so compliance has to be confirmed at the time of specification rather than assumed from a previous project. We check it during design and state it on the bill of materials. If your agency has additional requirements beyond TAA, such as a supply chain or FIPS condition, tell us early and we will design to it.
