Pixel pitch is set by the nearest viewer

The working rule is roughly one metre of viewing distance per millimetre of pitch. A 1.5mm wall reads cleanly from about 1.5 metres; a 2.5mm wall needs 2.5 metres before the pixel structure disappears.

Specify from the closest seat, not the average. In a lobby where people walk past the wall, that distance is a metre or less — which is why fine pitch costs what it does and why an under-specified wall looks wrong from exactly the position people stand in.

MicroTiles LED or Core Series III

MicroTiles LED covers 0.75mm to 1.5mm — ultra-fine and fine pitch for close viewing, broadcast backdrops and spaces where the wall is examined rather than glanced at. All four pitches are available TAA-compliant.

Core Series III covers 0.9mm to 2.5mm, built for the same installed reliability at a wider range of viewing distances. It is the range that suits most control rooms and larger-format walls.

Walls build in whole tiles

A video wall is assembled from a fixed tile size, so the finished dimensions are multiples of that tile rather than whatever the architect drew. Work the array out in tiles first and confirm it against the available wall, including the structure behind it — a dvLED wall is heavy and the mounting substrate matters as much as the tiles.

Depth matters too. Service access is either from the front or the rear depending on the mount, and that decision is made before the wall goes in, not after.

What else the wall needs

Tiles alone do not make a working wall. Each installation needs a mounting system matched to the substrate, a video processor sized to the pixel count, power distribution, data cabling and commissioning to align brightness and colour across every tile. Those items are quoted alongside the tiles and are a significant part of the budget.
