Absen outdoor LED displays are weather-rated direct view video walls for exterior installation — building facades, stadium perimeter boards, transit and civic signage, and any screen that has to stay readable in direct sunlight.

Brightness is the outdoor specification

Indoor walls run at a few hundred to a couple of thousand nits. An outdoor screen facing daylight needs several thousand, and a south-facing facade needs more than a shaded one. Under-specifying brightness produces a screen that looks fine at dusk and disappears at noon — which is the half of the day that matters.

Confirm the orientation and the hours the screen has to perform before choosing a product.

Ingress protection and thermal load

Outdoor cabinets carry an IP rating covering the front and rear faces separately. That rating has to match the mounting — a cabinet sealed only at the front is not suitable where the rear is exposed.

Heat is the other half. A bright screen in direct sun generates significant thermal load, and the cooling design affects the cabinet depth, the structure and the power draw. It is a design decision rather than an afterthought.

Perimeter and sports displays

The A99 stadium perimeter range at 6.25mm and 10mm is built for pitch-side installation, where impact resistance and sightline angles matter as much as image quality. Perimeter boards are specified from the camera position as well as the spectator position, since broadcast capture has its own requirements.

Structure, power and permits

Outdoor walls are heavy, wind-loaded and usually visible from a public right of way. That means structural engineering, electrical work and frequently a planning or signage permit — all of which run longer than the equipment lead time. Start those early.
