Product Overview
The Visionary Solutions E4100 is a 4K UHD over IP PoE encoder that brings HDMI sources onto a standard Gigabit Ethernet network for scalable AV over IP distribution. Designed for commercial AV integration, the E4100 replaces the input side of a traditional matrix switcher, letting integrators add sources in increments of one across conference room, digital signage, and campus video distribution projects. Paired with the PacketAV D4100 decoder, it delivers cinema-quality, visually lossless video with ultra-low latency over existing enterprise IP networks.
Product Description
The E4100 encodes HDMI video and audio into a packetized network stream compatible with off-the-shelf IGMP-enabled Gigabit switches — no fiber, no 10G switch, and no proprietary cabling. Visionary's JPEG2000-based codec uses adaptive bit-rate compression with built-in content analysis to optimize for fine-line computer graphics or full-motion video, maintaining visually lossless quality at bitrates from 50 to 800 Mbps.

A single RJ-45 LAN port handles 4K UHD video, audio, control, and PoE power input (IEEE 802.3af/at), so each source location needs only one network drop. An HDMI loop-through output lets a local display monitor the connected source — useful in lecterns, broadcast studio racks, and equipment closets. The encoder supports independent routing of video, audio, and USB so each signal type can be matrixed separately across the system, and stereo unbalanced analog audio can be embedded alongside HDMI audio. USB 2.0 over IP enables KVM extension and roaming between PCs and displays, while RS-232 over IP, IR, and CEC handle device control in AV system integration projects. Enterprise security — AES-128 stream encryption, HDCP 2.2 compliance, HTTPS secure API, 802.1x network authentication, and SSH — makes the E4100 suitable for government space and corporate networks with strict access control. Mass configuration through the embedded web UI, LLDP discovery, QoS support, Vision Lite software, and third-party drivers for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI keep large commercial deployments manageable. The fanless chassis installs behind equipment or in high-density racks with the AVIP-Rackmount-3 and AVIP-Rackmount-14 kits.

Key Features
- 4K UHD over IP Encoding — Transmits visually lossless 4K60 4:2:0 and 4K30 4:4:4 video over standard Gigabit Ethernet for scalable commercial deployment.
- Adaptive Bit-Rate Codec — Content-aware compression dynamically optimizes for computer graphics or motion video without compromising image quality.
- Ultra-Low Latency — Approximately one frame (17 ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:2:0) keeps presenters and displays in sync in live environments.
- Single-Cable PoE Operation — One LAN connection carries video, audio, control, and IEEE 802.3af/at power for simplified installation.
- HDMI Loop-Through — Local confidence monitoring of the connected source without an extra decoder.
- Independent Routing — Matrix video, audio, and USB separately for flexible AV system design.
- USB 2.0 over IP (KVM) — Extend keyboard, mouse, and USB peripherals across the network with multi-display KVM roaming.
- Enterprise Security — AES-128 encryption, HDCP 2.2, HTTPS secure API, 802.1x authentication, and SSH protect content on converged networks.
- Mass Configuration — Auto-discover endpoints and push CSV-based configuration from the embedded web page with no external software.
- Broad Control Support — Vision Lite software plus Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI drivers simplify control system integration.
Typical Applications
- Boardroom and conference room source encoding
- Commercial meeting space and huddle room AV over IP systems
- Training room and all-hands room presentation distribution
- Government space installations requiring encrypted AV transport
- House of worship video distribution to overflow spaces
- Broadcast studio and auditorium source contribution

Frequently Asked Questions
Which decoder pairs with the E4100?
The D4100 decoder is the matching 4 Series endpoint. Any number of encoders and decoders can be combined, scaling in increments of one.
What network infrastructure is required?
Standard IGMP-enabled Gigabit Ethernet switches with jumbo frames and CAT5e/6 cabling. The E4100 can run on an existing enterprise network or a dedicated AV network.
How is the E4100 powered?
Via PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at) from a PoE switch or midspan, or with a local 5–12 VDC power input — no dedicated power supply required at most source locations.
Does it support KVM applications?
Yes. USB 2.0 over IP supports KVM extension and multi-display KVM roaming, so keyboard and mouse control follows the cursor between mapped displays.
Can the E4100 integrate with my control system?
Yes. Drivers are available for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI, and Visionary's Vision Lite software and integrator API provide full configuration and control.
Is it secure enough for corporate and government networks?
Yes. AES-128 stream encryption, HTTPS secure API, 802.1x authentication, and SSH support deployment on networks with strict security policies.
