Product Overview
The Visionary Solutions D4100 is a 4K UHD over IP PoE decoder built for commercial AV installations that distribute video over standard Gigabit Ethernet instead of a traditional matrix switcher. As the receiving endpoint in a PacketAV AV over IP system, the D4100 converts the network stream from a PacketAV E4100 encoder back into HDMI for displays, projectors, and digital signage endpoints. With ultra-low latency, visually lossless image quality, and built-in video wall processing, it is a practical choice for conference room AV integration, campus-wide video distribution, and enterprise digital signage deployment.
Product Description
The D4100 operates on any industry-standard IP network, so AV designers and IT directors can deploy it on an existing enterprise LAN or on a physically separate parallel AV network using low-cost Gigabit switches — no fiber or 10G infrastructure required. Visionary's JPEG2000-based compression codec dynamically adapts its bitrate to the source content, delivering visually lossless reproduction of both computer-generated graphics and full-motion video at roughly one frame of latency.

A single RJ-45 LAN port carries 4K UHD video, audio, control traffic, and PoE power (IEEE 802.3af/at), which keeps cabling simple in retrofit projects and new construction alike. The decoder scales incoming streams automatically — 4K in/1080p out or 1080p in/4K out — so mixed display estates do not require manual resolution management. Built-in video wall processing supports arrays up to 16x16 with 180/270-degree rotation, eliminating the cost of an external video wall processor for lobby walls and command-and-control displays. Seamless fast switching delivers source changes with no black screens, tearing, or frame locks, and dynamic OSD text overlay can present alerts, schedules, and messaging directly on screen. USB 2.0 over IP (KVM), RS-232 over IP, IR, and CEC extension let integrators control displays and remote devices across the network, while enterprise security features including AES-128 stream encryption, HTTPS secure API, 802.1x authentication, and SSH protect signal distribution in government space and corporate environments. Configuration is handled through the embedded web UI with mass-configuration via CSV, Vision Lite control software, or third-party drivers for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI control systems. The fanless, convection-cooled chassis is compact enough for behind-display mounting or high-density rack-mount installation with the AVIP-Rackmount-14 kit.

Key Features
- 4K UHD over IP Decoding — Decodes visually lossless 4K60 4:2:0 and 4K30 4:4:4 streams over standard Gigabit Ethernet for commercial-grade video distribution.
- Ultra-Low Latency — Approximately one frame of latency (17ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:2:0) keeps live presentations and IMAG applications in sync.
- Single-Cable PoE Deployment — One LAN connection carries video, audio, control, and IEEE 802.3af/at power, reducing installation cost at every display location.
- Built-In Video Wall Processor — Create video walls up to 16x16 with image rotation using commodity displays and no external processor.
- Auto Video Scaler — Automatically scales between 4K and 1080p so mixed-resolution sources and displays work without manual configuration.
- Seamless Fast Switching — Source changes occur with no black screen, tearing, or frame lock for a polished boardroom experience.
- USB, RS-232, IR, and CEC over IP — Extends KVM and device control across the network for remote management of displays and peripherals.
- Enterprise Security — AES-128 stream encryption, HDCP 2.2, HTTPS secure API, 802.1x authentication, and SSH meet enterprise and government network requirements.
- Independent AV Routing — Separately matrix video, audio, and USB signals for flexible system design.
- Broad Control Ecosystem — Vision Lite software plus third-party drivers for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI simplify AV system integration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the D4100 require a matching encoder?
Yes. The D4100 decodes streams from PacketAV 4 Series encoders such as the E4100 encoder. Systems scale in increments of one, so you can deploy any combination of encoders and decoders.
What network switch do I need?
The D4100 works with off-the-shelf IGMP-enabled Gigabit Ethernet switches. No fiber or 10 Gigabit infrastructure is required, which keeps commercial deployment costs down.
Can it be powered without a PoE switch?
Yes. The decoder accepts IEEE 802.3af/at PoE or a local 5–12 VDC power input, giving installers flexibility at each display location.
Does it integrate with Crestron or QSC control systems?
Yes. Third-party control drivers are available for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI, alongside Visionary's Vision Lite control software and an API for qualified system integrators.
Can the D4100 drive a video wall?
Yes. A built-in video wall processor supports arrays up to 16x16 with 180/270-degree rotation, so commodity displays can be used without a dedicated video wall controller.
Is the D4100 covered by a warranty?
Yes. The D4100 is covered by the Visionary Solutions manufacturer warranty, and Creation Networks provides pre-sale design assistance and post-sale support for commercial AV integrators.
