The Sennheiser HSP 4 is a cardioid headset microphone available in anthracite or beige, terminated either with a locking 3-pin SE connector for SK 50, SK 250, SK 2000, SK 5212, SK 6000 and SK 9000 bodypacks, or with the ew connector for evolution wireless transmitters. The directional capsule trades a little off-axis tolerance for markedly better rejection of stage wash, which makes it the specification of choice where gain before feedback is the constraint.

Product Description

Where the omnidirectional HSP 2 is forgiving of head movement, the HSP 4's cardioid pattern rejects sound arriving from behind and to the sides of the capsule. In a room with foldback wedges, a loud front-of-house system, or an open platform, that rejection is what buys usable level before the system rings. The trade is that boom placement matters more: keep the capsule consistently at the corner of the mouth and off-axis colouration stays controlled.

The neckband carrier distributes weight without clamping pressure. Choose the finish for the production — anthracite disappears against dark hair and under stage lighting, beige against lighter skin tones on camera — and the termination for the transmitter. The locking 3-pin SE version fits Sennheiser professional bodypacks across the 2000, 5000, 6000 and 9000 families, most often an SK 6000 bodypack transmitter or SK 9000 into an EM 6000 receiver, or the EM 6000 Dante where the channel needs to land on an audio network. The ew version fits evolution wireless bodypacks. Where the pack itself has to be concealed in costume, the SK 6212 mini bodypack accepts the same 3-pin capsule.

The supplied kit covers the consumables that fail first in a working inventory: five boom clips, a silicone tube, a connection cable, an MZW 4 windscreen and a foam-lined transport case. Spare HSP 2/4 black 3-pin cables and boom clips are stocked separately. If the wearer moves a lot and level consistency matters more than room rejection, specify the omnidirectional HSP 2 instead.
