The practical difference between the ECB7250 and the ECB6250 is the Ethernet port, not the coax side: both run MoCA 2.5 on the cable, but only the ECB7250 gives you a 2.5 GbE RJ-45 port, so only the ECB7250 can hand off more than 1 Gbps to the attached switch, router, or endpoint. If your switch port is Gigabit only, the ECB6250 will not bottleneck you — but the ECB7250 leaves headroom for a future multi-gig upgrade. The ECB6200 is the older MoCA 2.0 generation and is rated to 1.0 Gbps on coax. All three families are expandable to up to 16 MoCA nodes.

Coaxial splitters are not included with the single-adapter ECB7250S02 — they ship with the two-pack ECB7250K02 starter kit. A MoCA point-of-entry (PoE) filter is not included with either configuration and must be sourced separately if your deployment needs one. See the deployment notes below.
Deployment and Compatibility Notes
- Two nodes minimum. ScreenBeam states that an existing MoCA-ready network or a second ECB7250 adapter is required. One adapter on its own cannot create a link.
- MoCA-rated splitters. If other devices already use the same coax outlet — a set-top box, a TV, or a cable modem — a MoCA splitter is required so the MoCA signal passes through. If two existing devices share the coax connection, ScreenBeam specifies a 3-way MoCA splitter (not included).
- PoE filter for cable subscribers. If the building takes cable internet or cable TV service, ScreenBeam recommends installing a MoCA point-of-entry filter at the service entry point so the MoCA signal does not leak onto the provider's network.
- DOCSIS 3.1 modems. ScreenBeam notes that certain DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems and modem/routers can be interfered with by the MoCA 2.5 signal. In that case a MoCA PoE filter (not included) should be installed between the cable modem and the MoCA splitter.
- Works over installed cable TV and satellite wiring. No new Ethernet runs, conduit work, or re-cabling are required — the adapter uses the coax that is already in the wall.
- Speed negotiation. The RJ-45 port is 10/100/2500 Base-T. Plugged into a Gigabit-only switch port it negotiates down to 1 GbE; a 2.5 GbE port is required to pass more than 1 Gbps.
- Setup sequence. Connect coax to the adapter's Coax In port, apply power, wait for the Power and Coax LEDs to turn green, then connect the Ethernet cable to your networking device. No drivers or software are needed.
- Vendor-agnostic on the network side. The adapter presents as a transparent Ethernet bridge, so it works with any router, managed switch, access point, AV-over-IP encoder/decoder, or signage player that has an RJ-45 port.
Why MoCA Instead of Powerline or Wi-Fi Mesh?
Powerline adapters share the building's electrical wiring with every motor, LED driver, and switching power supply on the circuit, and performance drops sharply across different breaker phases. Wi-Fi mesh backhaul competes for the same airtime as the client devices it is serving, so every hop costs throughput and adds jitter. MoCA runs on shielded coaxial cable that was engineered for RF distribution, which is why the MoCA 2.5 specification is able to publish a 2.5 Gbps MAC throughput figure and a one-way average latency of less than 2.5 ms.
For commercial AV work that is the deciding factor. A dedicated, low-jitter wired path matters more than peak headline speed when you are carrying AV-over-IP streams, digital signage playback, or IP camera traffic — and it is why MoCA is frequently used as mesh backhaul rather than as a competitor to it. Where coax already reaches the endpoint, MoCA is usually the cheapest route to a wired-quality link.

Do I need two ECB7250 adapters to use it?
