What is the RDL SAS-8I?
The RDL SAS-8I is an audio input chassis for the RDL SourceFlex distributed audio system that accepts eight balanced or unbalanced audio sources. It provides a separate paging input with closure contacts, is programmable for the number of sources used and supports SAS-8C or SAS-82 SourceFlex controllers. It also controls four SourceFlex listening stations with per-station level limits and fused power, making it the input hub of a SourceFlex audio system.
How does it work?
The SAS-8I brings up to eight balanced or unbalanced line sources into a SourceFlex system, and it is programmed for the maximum number of sources in use. A separate paging input with closure contacts allows announcements to reach the listening stations. A 24-pin ribbon-cable bus drives additional SAS-82 or RDL SAS-8C controllers so the system can grow station by station. Listening stations connect on 6-position detachable terminal blocks, with an LED on each remote output showing that voltage is present. Output gain is trimpot-adjustable across a 40 dB range to set the maximum listening level at each station, and an auto-resetting fuse protects each station's power feed. Stations such as the RDL D-SFRC8 room control station and SAS-HC8 headphone control station complete the system. The SAS-8I runs on ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 2 A; RDL recommends the PS-24KS (USA) or RDL PS-24KX (international) supply, not included. RDL lists the RK-2U 2 RU utility rack chassis as a mounting accessory.
