What is the RDL DB-TPSM2A?
The RDL DB-TPSM2A is a two-pair Format-A twisted pair sender with two XLR microphone inputs and P48 phantom power, finished in black. Each studio-quality preamplifier can be set to automatic gain, fixed 40 dB or fixed 60 dB, and routed to Format-A pair A, B or C. The wall-mount module is powered remotely through its RJ45 connection and fits RDL WB-1U and WB-2U boxes or standard US electrical boxes.
How does it work?

The DB-TPSM2A sends two microphone signals over a single twisted pair cable to RDL Format-A receivers and distributors. Both XLR inputs provide IEC 48 V phantom power and accept dynamic or condenser microphones. In AUTO mode the module sets 60 dB of gain for dynamic microphones and 40 dB for condenser microphones; installers can lock gain to HIGH or LOW instead. A rear-panel switch for each preamplifier assigns its output to Format-A pair A, B or C. Because it uses only two pairs, a single-pair Format-A sender such as the RDL D-TPS1A can be daisy-chained through the second RJ45 jack, provided each source feeds a different pair. Power and all three audio pairs pass through both rear-panel RJ45 jacks. The module is powered through the cable from another module, a distributor such as the RDL RU-TPDA, or a power inserter like the RDL RU-TP4PW. RDL lists the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international) as the recommended supply for the system. Format-A receivers such as the RDL D-TPR1A or D-TPR3A recover the audio at the far end. The black faceplate coordinates with RDL Decora-style controls, and the module mounts in an RDL WB-1U wall box or a standard US electrical box.
What are the key features?
- Two XLR mic inputs — Balanced inputs with P48 phantom power accept dynamic and condenser microphones.
- Automatic or fixed gain — AUTO sets 60 dB for dynamic and 40 dB for condenser mics, or select fixed LOW or HIGH gain.
- Pair selection — Each preamplifier output can be assigned to Format-A pair A, B or C.
- Daisy-chain capable — A single-pair Format-A sender can share the same cable run.
- Remote powered — The module draws power through the RJ45 twisted pair connection.
- Studio-quality circuitry — Precision active balanced design with CMRR above 80 dB.
Where is it typically used?

Frequently Asked Questions
What does it connect to?
It sends audio over twisted pair to RDL Format-A receivers, distributors and mixers.
Does it provide phantom power?
Yes. Both XLR inputs supply P48 phantom power per IEC 61938: 2013.
How is it powered?
It is powered remotely through the twisted pair cable from another module, a distributor or an RDL power inserter. Draw is 24 Vdc at 80 mA, or 120 mA with phantom.
Can I add another sender on the same cable?
Yes. One single-pair Format-A sender may be chained with the module, as long as each source uses a different pair.
What mounting options are there?
It mounts in RDL WB-1U and WB-2U wall boxes or standard US electrical boxes.
What warranty does it carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
