What is the Crestron USB-EXT-3S SYSTEM USB 3.2 extender kit?
The Crestron USB-EXT-3S SYSTEM is a complete USB 3.2 Gen 1 extender kit: one USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL, one USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE and one PW-2030DU 20VDC power pack in a single part number. It extends USB cameras, soundbars and capture devices up to 330 ft (100 m) over one CAT6a/7 cable at up to 5 Gbps, which is what most Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms layouts need between the rack and the table or display.
How does the Crestron USB-EXT-3S SYSTEM work?
The LOCAL connects to the room PC through its USB Type-C host port. The REMOTE sits at the table or display and gives you three USB-A ports and one USB-C port for peripherals. The two boxes connect LINK to LINK over CAT6a/7; the LINK ports cannot go through a network switch.
The included power pack connects to either box and powers the other over the LINK cable. When the REMOTE is powered over LINK, USB power to peripherals tops out at 17.5 W, so put the power pack on the REMOTE when you are running power-hungry cameras.
Isochronous transport is fully supported, so UC camera video keeps its bandwidth while other USB devices move data. Each box includes an RS-232 pass-through for serial control at the far end.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Crestron USB-EXT-3S SYSTEM?
One USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL, one USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE and one PW-2030DU power pack. The two endpoints connect LINK port to LINK port over a single CAT6a/7 cable; the LINK ports cannot be connected to a network switch. Either endpoint can be swapped for a 1-gang wall plate version if the room needs it.
What cable does the USB-EXT-3S series need?
Use CAT6a or CAT7 F/FTP or U/FTP cable, up to 330 ft (100 m) total. Up to 33 ft (10 m) of patch cord can be used at each end; the rest should be solid-core premise cable.
Does it work with Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms cameras?
Yes. The USB-EXT-3S series fully supports USB 3.2 isochronous transport, which reserves bandwidth for UC cameras and capture devices so other USB traffic does not degrade the video. Crestron does not guarantee every USB host or device, so test unusual peripherals before rollout.
Does it need drivers?
No. It is plug-and-play with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS hosts.
How is it powered?
The included power pack connects to one endpoint and powers the other over the LINK cable. When the remote is powered over LINK, USB power to peripherals is limited to 17.5 W (3.5A).
Is it TAA compliant?
Yes, Crestron lists the USB-EXT-3S series as TAA compliant, which matters for federal and many state and local bids.
