What is the Crestron USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE USB 3.2 extender?
The Crestron USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE is the device-side endpoint of the USB-EXT-3S series, giving you three USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port up to 330 ft (100 m) from the host over one CAT6a/7 cable. It is built for UC cameras, conference soundbars, video capture devices and touch displays in meeting rooms. Pair it with the USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL or USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL-1G at the PC.
How does the Crestron USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE work?
The REMOTE receives the USB 3.2 Gen 1 signal from the local endpoint over the LINK cable and presents it as four device ports. Ports 1 and 2 supply up to 1A each; port 3 (USB-A) and port 4 (USB-C) supply up to 1.5A each, with 25 W budgeted across all four. You can add USB hubs for more devices.
Isochronous transport is fully supported, so a 4K UC camera and a speakerphone can share the link with a keyboard or flash drive without the video stuttering. An RS-232 pass-through lets a control system talk to a serial device at the display end over the same cable.
Connect a PW-2030DU power pack at either end; the powered endpoint feeds the other over LINK. If the REMOTE is powered over LINK, total USB power to peripherals is limited to 17.5 W, so power the REMOTE directly when you are driving power-hungry cameras.

For a matched pair in one part number, see the USB-EXT-3S SYSTEM.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Crestron USB-EXT-3S-REMOTE pair with?
It pairs one-to-one with a USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL or USB-EXT-3S-LOCAL-1G. The two endpoints connect LINK port to LINK port over a single CAT6a/7 cable; the LINK ports cannot be connected to a network switch.
What cable does the USB-EXT-3S series need?
Use CAT6a or CAT7 F/FTP or U/FTP cable, up to 330 ft (100 m) total. Up to 33 ft (10 m) of patch cord can be used at each end; the rest should be solid-core premise cable.
Does it work with Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms cameras?
Yes. The USB-EXT-3S series fully supports USB 3.2 isochronous transport, which reserves bandwidth for UC cameras and capture devices so other USB traffic does not degrade the video. Crestron does not guarantee every USB host or device, so test unusual peripherals before rollout.
Does it need drivers?
No. It is plug-and-play with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS hosts.
How is it powered?
Only one endpoint in a pair connects to a 20VDC power pack; it powers the other over the LINK cable. When the remote is powered over LINK, USB power to peripherals is limited to 17.5 W (3.5A). Two wall plates paired together each need their own PW-2030DUL.
Is it TAA compliant?
Yes, Crestron lists the USB-EXT-3S series as TAA compliant, which matters for federal and many state and local bids.
