Description

The Crestron USB-EXT-3 KIT is a useful tool for extending USB 3.2 peripherals, like UC soundbars and cameras. The standard 3.2 cable length is only 6 ft (1.8 m), which is not sufficient for most conference rooms and meeting spaces. With the USB-EXT-3 KIT, you can extend all USB signals up to 330 ft (100 m) over CAT 6a/7 cable at high speeds of up to 5 Gbps.

When it comes to supporting USB signals, it's important to use reliable USB transport technology. The USB-EXT-3 KIT is specifically designed to support USB 3.2 isochronous (ISO) transport, which means it offers a higher level of support for UC cameras and video capture devices. With this technology, USB traffic is given a guaranteed percentage of all USB bandwidth, ensuring that other devices connected to the USB port, like bulk storage devices, won't affect the performance of the ISO stream. This results in high-quality video performance.

The Crestron USB-EXT-3 KIT consists of the USB-EXT-3-LOCAL and USB-EXT-3-REMOTE extenders, which are used with each other in point-to-point USB extender applications:

  • The USB-EXT-3-LOCAL provides connectivity for a single USB host such as a computer. The extender supports plug-and-play functionality with a USB host running Windows®, macOS®, Linux®, and Chrome OS™ operating systems. No additional driver installation is required.2
  • The USB-EXT-3-REMOTE provides connectivity for up to four USB Type-A devices such as USB cameras and video capture devices at one location.2 The extender is expandable to support up to 30 USB devices with the connection of up to three USB hubs (not included).

A Gigabit Ethernet pass-through port is included on each extender for connection to a network or network-enabled device.

Status (1) LED. Solid green indicates that the system is functioning normally. Flashing green indicates that the system is booting or may also indicate a temperature warning in unison with the Link, USB 2, and USB 3 LEDs.
Link (1) LED. Green indicates that a link has been established between the local and remote extenders.
USB 2 (1) LED. Solid green indicates that a USB 2 connection is detected when a host device is connected to the USB port on the USB-EXT- 3-LOCAL. Flashing green indicates that the USB 2 connection has been suspended or is in sleep mode.
USB 3 (1) LED. Solid green indicates that a USB 3 connection is detected when a host device is connected to the USB port on the USB-EXT-3-LOCAL. Flashing green indicates that the USB 3 connection has been suspended or is in sleep mode.
LAN (2) LEDs on RJ-45 connector. Solid green indicates that a link has been established between the extender and the network or network device. Flashing green indicates Ethernet activity.
