Product Overview
The Cisco Room Vision PTZ Camera in Arctic White (CS-CAM-RVPTZ-L) is a 4K pan-tilt-zoom camera for auditoriums, lecture halls, council chambers and large multi-purpose rooms where the presenter moves and the far end still needs a usable shot. It combines 12x optical zoom inside a 60x total range with AI presenter tracking that runs on the camera, so the active speaker stays framed without anyone on a joystick. Power, video and camera control all arrive on one PoE+ Ethernet run, which is what makes the camera practical to retrofit into a room with no spare conduit. The Arctic White finish is the one to specify against white ceilings, light walls and standard acoustic tile, where a dark camera would read as a black box on the wall.
Product Description

A long room defeats a fixed camera. Beyond a certain depth the presenter becomes a small figure in a wide frame, and the traditional fix is an operator on a joystick, which most rooms cannot staff. The Room Vision PTZ answers that with 12x optical zoom, a pan range of plus or minus 170 degrees and a tilt range of -25 to +90 degrees, moving at anywhere from 0.1 to 100 degrees per second so a reframe reads as deliberate rather than mechanical. Head detection on the camera follows the active presenter and holds the shot, and the motors are quiet enough to sit in the same room as an open microphone.
The cable schedule is short, which is the practical argument for this camera on a retrofit. One Cat5e run per camera carries PoE+ power, 4K video and camera control, so there is no second pull for HDMI and no third for serial control. Budget an IEEE 802.3at PoE+ port at the switch; the camera draws 12 W in normal operation and 3 W in standby, well inside the 30 W a PoE+ port supplies. Where the serving switch is non-PoE or 802.3af only, a CS-PWR-INJ-30W injector at the head end keeps the single-cable run intact without replacing the switch. Specify plenum-rated Cat5e where the run crosses a plenum, and note that an HDMI 2.0 output is on the camera if a direct connection suits the room better.
Cisco ships all mounting options separately from the main unit, so the bracket is a line item on the quote rather than an assumption. Two are available in Arctic White: CS-CAM-RVPTZ-WBKL, a slim wall-only bracket built around the single Ethernet deployment, and CS-CAM-RVPTZ-CBKL, which mounts on a ceiling or a wall and accommodates HDMI as well. The camera itself is 165 x 196 x 176 mm and 2.3 kg, so the bracket, not the camera, is what sets the achievable angles and the rough-in position. Decide it before the cable is pulled. The camera needs RoomOS 11.31 or later on the host device, which is worth confirming on an existing room before the order goes in.

Key Features
- 60x Total Zoom — 12x optical combined with 5x digital gives usable reach across a deep room.
- AI Presenter Tracking — Head detection on the camera follows and frames the active presenter without an operator.
- Single-Cable Deployment — One PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) RJ-45 run carries power, 4K video and camera control.
- Silent Motorised Movement — Pan and tilt run from 0.1 to 100 degrees per second, quiet enough for a room with live microphones.
- Wide Mechanical Range — Pan covers plus or minus 170 degrees and tilt covers -25 to +90 degrees.
- Low Power Draw — 12 W in normal operation and 3 W in standby, inside a standard PoE+ budget.
- HDMI 2.0 Output — A direct connection is available where the installation calls for one.
- RTSP Streaming — The camera can serve a stream directly to a compatible receiver.
- Arctic White Finish — Matches white ceilings, light walls and standard acoustic tile.
Typical Applications
- Auditoriums and lecture halls where the presenter moves across a platform
- Council chambers and legislative rooms needing a repeatable framed shot
- Large training rooms and divisible multi-purpose spaces
- Executive briefing centres and broadcast-adjacent production spaces
- Retrofits into rooms where only an Ethernet pull is practical
- White-ceiling and light-wall installations where a dark camera would stand out

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between CS-CAM-RVPTZ-L and CS-CAM-RVPTZ-C?
- Finish only. This is the Arctic White version; CS-CAM-RVPTZ-C is Carbon Black. Hardware, optics and capability are identical.
- What does the room need at the switch?
- One PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) port per camera. The camera draws 12 W in normal operation and 3 W in standby. An 802.3af port does not supply enough power. Where the switch cannot provide PoE+, a CS-PWR-INJ-30W injector sits at the head end and the camera still needs only one cable.
- Does a bracket come with the camera?
- No. All mounting options are ordered separately from the main unit. In Arctic White the choices are CS-CAM-RVPTZ-WBKL for a wall-only, Ethernet-only installation and CS-CAM-RVPTZ-CBKL for a ceiling or wall installation, including one carrying HDMI.
- Which Cisco devices does it work with?
- Room Kit EQ, Room Kit EQX, Room Bar Pro, Board Pro 55/75, Board Pro 55/75 G2 and Codec Pro, running RoomOS 11.31 or later. Confirm the host device software version before ordering. Buyers pairing this camera with a new host device usually shortlist against the rest of the Cisco room device catalog before the order goes in.
- How does it compare to the Cisco PTZ 4K Camera?
- Reach against ease of deployment. The PTZ 4K offers 20x optical inside a 240x range and connects over HDMI with Visca over IP control. The Room Vision PTZ offers 12x optical inside a 60x range but runs on one Ethernet cable with presenter tracking built in. Specify PTZ 4K for a deep auditorium, Room Vision PTZ for a clean retrofit.
- What is the difference between this part and CS-CAM-RVPTZ-L=?
- None in hardware. The trailing equals sign is Cisco's designator for a spare or standalone service unit ordered outside a system configuration. See CS-CAM-RVPTZ-L=.
- Is SmartNet available?
