What is the AUDAC CELO8I/W 8" ceiling speaker?
The AUDAC CELO8I/W is a high-end 2-way 8" ceiling speaker built for premium background music in hotels, corporate spaces, retail and restaurants. It pairs an 8" aluminum cone woofer with a 1" aluminum dome tweeter for 80 W continuous (AES) power at 8 Ω. It is the largest model in the CELO slim ceiling speaker series, and it hides behind a SlimLine grill with a 1 mm border.
How does the AUDAC CELO8I/W 8" ceiling speaker work?
The CELO8I/W is a passive, low-impedance (8 Ω) flush-mount speaker. Its tweeter sits on an acoustically shaped arm in front of the 8" woofer, and a built-in passive crossover at 3 kHz splits the signal between them. The result is a 46 Hz – 20 kHz response (±3 dB) and a wide 135° conical coverage pattern, so fewer speakers cover a room evenly. The grill sticks out only 3.2 mm from the ceiling and is held on by neodymium magnets, so it comes off without tools for service. Wiring lands on gold-plated Gold-Con spring clamps, and the speaker locks into a 9.65" cut-out with a 4-screw quick-fix mechanism. For 70V/100V distributed systems, add the optional WTR24 line transformer. AUDAC designs the CELO series to work in open ceiling space; where a back box is required, the WMM450 fire-rated back box or WMM630 MDF back box fits, and AUDAC recommends at least ~15 liters of back volume to keep low-end response. Pair it with the CELO8SI ceiling subwoofer for full-range sound without a visible cabinet.

Not by itself; it is an 8 Ω speaker. Add the optional AUDAC WTR24 24 W line transformer for 100V distributed systems, or drive it from a low-impedance amplifier channel.
Does it need a back box?
No. AUDAC designed the CELO series for open ceiling space. Where code or sound isolation calls for one, use the WMM450 or WMM630 and allow about 15 liters of volume or more.
What cut-out size do I need?
A 9.65 in (245 mm) round hole with 4.53 in of built-in depth.
Do I need a subwoofer?
Often not, since it reaches 46 Hz (±3 dB). For more bass in lounges or restaurants, add the CELO8SI ceiling subwoofer.
Can the grill match a dark or painted ceiling?
Yes. The grill is paintable, and AUDAC offers an optional black grill (GLC08I/B).
