The Williams AV PPA R38N is a multi-channel FM assistive listening receiver with a high-resolution OLED screen, supplied without earphones or batteries for venues that standardize their own listening accessories or maintain sanitary single-use earphone stock. Functionally identical to the FM R38 kit version, it offers on-screen access to all 17 preset wideband frequencies in the 72–76 MHz hearing assistance band and is compatible with every Williams Sound 72–76 MHz wideband transmitter. It is the fleet-expansion receiver of choice for auditoriums, theaters, and houses of worship.

Many facilities prefer to buy receivers bare: rental houses pair them with their own headphones, performing arts venues issue fresh sanitary earbuds per patron, and rechargeable fleets skip alkaline cells entirely. The PPA R38N serves exactly that purchasing pattern — it ships with a CLP 023 belt clip and a stereo plug, with earphones, headphones, neckloops, and batteries all available separately.

The receiver's 1-inch OLED display provides a quick view of status — channel or frequency readout, digital volume level, and a 4-step battery indicator — and the on-screen menu opens every user setting, including all 17 wideband channels. A step/seek function increments channels manually or jumps to the next active broadcast, while channel lock keeps publicly loaned units on the house frequency. Digital tuning and digital squelch hold a stable, digitally synthesized signal with 65 dB minimum signal-to-noise ratio, and soft audio turn-on plus a battery-saving sleep mode round out the listener experience.

The 3.5 mm stereo jack supports stereo and mono earphones, headphones, and telecoil neckloops for hearing aid users. A slide switch in the battery compartment selects disposable alkaline or NiMH rechargeable operation — approximately 50 hours and 32 hours of runtime respectively — and base charging contacts drop straight into Williams Sound CHG 3502 and CHG 3512 chargers. The impact-resistant PC/ABS body with aluminum faceplate is covered by the Williams AV Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty.
