Product Overview

The Visionary Solutions PacketAV E5100 is a 4K60 4:4:4 AV over IP matrix encoder built for cost-effective commercial AV installation on standard 1GbE networks with PoE. It converts any HDMI source into a visually lossless, sub-frame latency network stream for conference room presentation, digital signage distribution, and enterprise video routing without a traditional switch matrix. Native AES67 audio support, HDMI loop-through, and a compact fanless chassis make it a straightforward building block for scalable AV over IP integration. Pair it with the matching D5100 decoder for end-to-end distribution.

Product Description

The E5100 encodes HDMI sources up to 4K60 with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling using Visionary's JPEG2000-based, dynamically optimized compression codec, which analyzes content to preserve fine computer-generated graphics and full-motion video at adjustable bitrates from 50 to 800 Mbps. Sub-frame latency of approximately 2 ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:4:4 keeps live camera feeds and presenter video synchronized with in-room audio. An HDMI loop-through output drives a local confidence monitor or in-room display while the source streams to the network, a common requirement in lecterns and equipment racks.

A single PoE network drop carries video, audio, USB, and control, so installation requires only one CAT5e/6 run and no local power supply. Sources distribute across an existing enterprise LAN or a dedicated private AV network using low-cost IGMP-capable Gigabit switches, scaling in increments of one encoder per source. Native AES67 digital audio output (up to 2 channels) and balanced stereo analog input round out audio handling at 24-bit/48 kHz. USB 2.0 over IP with KVM support, plus RS-232, GPIO, and CEC over IP, extend peripheral and device control across the system, and a full-motion MJPEG substream provides preview feeds for monitoring or multiviewer use. Enterprise security includes AES-256 stream encryption, 802.1x authentication, HTTPS API, and SSH, and the unit is TAA compliant for government procurement. Control integration runs through Vision Lite software and third-party drivers for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI, with optional rack-mount kits for high-density head-end installation.

Key Features

  • 4K60 4:4:4 over 1GbE — Encodes full-chroma UHD video for standard Gigabit networks without fiber or 10G switching.
  • Sub-Frame Latency — Approximately 2 ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:4:4 supports live presentation and KVM applications.
  • HDMI Loop-Through — Drives a local confidence monitor or in-room display while streaming the source to the network.
  • Native AES67 Audio — Interoperates with AES67-compliant audio networks out of the box, up to 2 channels.
  • Single PoE Network Drop — One CAT5e/6 cable carries video, audio, USB, control, and power for fast commercial installation.
  • Adaptive AI Compression — Dynamically optimizes encoding for computer graphics or motion video to keep streams small and visually lossless.
  • USB 2.0 over IP with KVM — Extends keyboard, mouse, and peripherals to remote endpoints, including multi-display roaming.
  • RS-232, GPIO, and CEC over IP — Controls connected sources and third-party devices from anywhere on the network.
  • Enterprise Security — AES-256 encryption, 802.1x, HTTPS API, and SSH meet corporate and government IT policies.
  • Fanless, Compact Chassis — Convection-cooled, 0 dBA, rack-mountable with optional 3-unit and 14-unit kits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which decoder pairs with the E5100?
The D5100 decoder is the direct companion, and the E5100 also interoperates with other Visionary 5-Series decoders such as the D5200 and DuetD-5.

How does the E5100 differ from the E5200?
The E5100 is the streamlined model with a single HDMI input and loop-through. The E5200 adds two HDMI plus USB-C switched inputs, an Ethernet expansion port with PoE pass-through, and a Dante/AES67 upgrade path.

Do I need a 10-Gigabit network for 4K60 4:4:4?
No. The 5-Series codec delivers 4K60 4:4:4 over standard 1-Gigabit Ethernet using IGMP-capable Gigabit switches and CAT5e/6 cabling.

How is the encoder powered?
Via PoE on the LAN port — IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at — so no local power supply is required at the source location.

Does it support Dante audio?
The E5100 supports native AES67 networked audio. For Dante/AES67, choose the E5200 with the Dante upgrade module or the DuetE-5, which includes Dante natively.

Can it integrate with my control system?
Yes. Vision Lite control software is included, with third-party drivers for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI, and an API for qualified system integrators.
