Product Overview
The Visionary Solutions PacketAV D5100 is a 4K60 4:4:4 AV over IP matrix decoder engineered for cost-effective commercial AV installation on standard 1GbE networks with PoE. It delivers visually lossless video with sub-frame latency to any display on the network, supporting conference room presentation, digital signage distribution, and video wall deployment without a traditional switch matrix. Native AES67 audio support and a compact, fanless surface-mount chassis make it a straightforward fit for enterprise AV integration. Pair it with the matching E5100 encoder for end-to-end distribution.
Product Description
The D5100 decodes JPEG2000-based streams from Visionary 5-Series encoders and outputs scaled video up to 4K60 4:4:4 over HDMI, with automatic 4K-in/1080p-out and 1080p-in/4K-out conversion, image rotation, and built-in video wall processing up to 16x16. Sub-frame latency of approximately 2 ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:4:4 keeps live camera feeds, presenter video, and program audio aligned in training rooms and commercial meeting spaces. Distribution scales in increments of one decoder per display across an existing enterprise LAN or a dedicated private AV network, using low-cost IGMP-capable Gigabit switches and standard CAT5e/6 cabling.
A single PoE network drop powers the unit and carries video, audio, USB, and control, simplifying installation behind displays where outlets are scarce. Native AES67 digital audio output (up to 2 channels) and a balanced stereo analog output with volume adjustment handle room audio, while HDMI passes NLPCM digital audio through to the display. USB 2.0 over IP and KVM support — including KVM multi-display roaming — let operators extend keyboard, mouse, and peripherals to remote PCs, and RS-232, GPIO, and CEC over IP provide device control at the display. Enterprise security covers AES-256 stream encryption, 802.1x authentication, HTTPS API, and SSH, and the unit is TAA compliant for government procurement. Mass configuration through the embedded web UI, LLDP, and QoS streamline larger rollouts, with control integration through Vision Lite software and third-party drivers for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI.
Key Features
- 4K60 4:4:4 over 1GbE — Decodes full-chroma UHD video on standard Gigabit networks without fiber or 10G switching.
- Sub-Frame Latency — Approximately 2 ms at 1080p60 and 4K60 4:4:4 supports live and interactive applications.
- Native AES67 Audio — Interoperates with AES67-compliant audio networks out of the box, up to 2 channels of output.
- Single PoE Network Drop — One CAT5e/6 cable carries video, audio, USB, control, and power for clean installation behind displays.
- Integrated Scaler — Automatic 4K/1080p conversion and image rotation simplify mixed-resolution deployments.
- Built-In Video Wall Processing — Creates video walls up to 16x16 with 180/270-degree rotation, no external processor required.
- KVM over IP with Multi-Display Roaming — Moves keyboard and mouse control between mapped displays automatically.
- RS-232, GPIO, and CEC over IP — Controls displays and third-party devices from anywhere on the network.
- Enterprise Security — AES-256 encryption, 802.1x, HTTPS API, and SSH meet corporate and government IT policies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which encoder pairs with the D5100?
The E5100 encoder is the direct companion, and the D5100 also interoperates with other Visionary 5-Series encoders such as the E5200 and DuetE-5.
How does the D5100 differ from the D5200?
The D5100 is the streamlined model: one LAN port, HDMI and analog audio outputs, and native AES67. The D5200 adds a USB-C output, an Ethernet expansion port with PoE pass-through, and a Dante/AES67 upgrade path.
What network infrastructure is required?
Standard IGMP-capable Gigabit Ethernet switches and CAT5e/6 cabling. No fiber or 10-Gigabit hardware is needed for 4K60 4:4:4.
How is the decoder powered?
Via PoE on the LAN port — IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at — so no local power supply is required at the display.
Can it drive a video wall?
Yes. The built-in video wall processor supports configurations up to 16x16 with image rotation using standard commodity displays.
Does it integrate with control systems?
Yes. Vision Lite control software is included, with third-party drivers for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI.
