RDL D-PSP1A – Format-A Decora Active Loudspeaker, User Level
What is the RDL D-PSP1A?
The RDL D-PSP1A is a compact active loudspeaker in a white Decora-compatible enclosure that delivers rich, detailed sound from a single wall plate position. It receives audio and 24 Vdc power from an RDL Format-A twisted pair sender through a rear-panel RJ45 jack, with front-panel user level control, making it a clean choice for paging, program audio and local monitoring in offices, lobbies and meeting rooms.
How does it work?
The D-PSP1A receives audio and 24 Vdc power over a single twisted pair cable on its rear RJ45 jack, and a rear switch set during installation selects which of the three Format-A pairs (A, B or C) it amplifies. A high-efficiency Class D amplifier rated at 2 W RMS drives a driver built from materials found in larger premium speakers, and an analog compressor/limiter allows higher average output without clipping. Occupants adjust the amplified level with a front-panel volume control. The sealed steel enclosure provides full baffling, internal filtering rolls off out-of-band frequencies, and dispersion covers nearly 180 degrees when wall mounted, with 81 dB maximum SPL and a nominal 150 Hz to 20 kHz range. Feed it from a Format-A sender such as the RDL D-TPS8A Format-A stereo input panel or power the run from an RDL FP-TP4PW power inserter, and complete the installation with an RDL CP-1 white cover plate, a DC-1W desktop/wall chassis or SMB-1W surface mount box.
What are the key features?
- Self-powered Decora speaker — A 2 W RMS Class D amplifier and driver are integrated in one Decora-size steel enclosure.
- Format-A twisted pair input — Audio and 24 Vdc power arrive on one RJ45 cable from an RDL Format-A sender, with switch-selectable pair A, B or C.
- Front-panel level control — A single-turn front-panel control lets users set their own listening level.
- Compressor/limiter — An analog compressor/limiter permits higher sound levels while preventing audible clipping.
- Wide dispersion — Hemispherical coverage of nearly 180 degrees fills small rooms from a single wall position.
- Color-matched finish — The white grille coordinates with other RDL Decora-style panels and plates.
