Product Overview

The Poly CCX 505 Open SIP desk phone is a mid-range business media phone with a 5-inch color touchscreen that registers to any standard SIP call platform rather than a single vendor's cloud. This SKU (84C16AA#ABA) is the model that ships with a North American power supply in the box, so it drops onto desks served by non-PoE switching, older access-layer hardware, or temporary cabling without a separate accessory order. Open SIP firmware makes it a fit for hosted UCaaS providers, on-premises IP-PBX platforms, and multi-tenant service-provider deployments where the endpoint must follow the dial plan rather than dictate it. Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth give integrators placement flexibility in offices where the data drop is not where the desk ended up.

Product Description

Open SIP is the reason this part number exists. The CCX 505 speaks SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP, and SRTP against whatever registrar the deployment already runs, and it supports the provisioning and redundancy behavior that service providers depend on: FTP, TFTP, HTTP, and HTTPS server-based central provisioning for mass deployments, DHCP or manual network setup, and DNS-SRV for call server failover. For an integrator standardizing hundreds of desks across a multi-tenant estate, that means one hardware SKU can be staged, provisioned from a config server, and shipped to any site running any compliant SIP platform.

The included power supply is the second reason to choose this SKU over the PoE-only variants. Not every commercial deployment has PoE at the access layer — branch offices with legacy unmanaged switches, retail counters, warehouse offices, and phased refurbishments frequently do not — and specifying the bundled-PSU part number removes a line item and a delivery dependency from the install. The phone still accepts Class 0 PoE where it is available, drawing 13 W over Ethernet or 25 W from the adapter, so the same SKU can be redeployed to a PoE desk later without being replaced. If additional adapters are needed for a later phase, the same Poly 25W power supply is stocked as a standalone part.

Audio quality carries over from the rest of the CCX family. Poly HD Voice and Poly Acoustic Clarity deliver wideband audio from 100 Hz to 20 kHz across handset, speakerphone, and headset paths, Poly Acoustic Fence keeps neighboring conversations out of the transmitted signal in open-plan offices and contact centers, and NoiseBlockAI suppresses ambient noise on the speakerphone. The 5-inch 1280 x 720 multi-touch display puts contacts and active calls one tap away, and a USB Type-A port, USB Type-C port, RJ-9 headset jack, and Bluetooth radio cover essentially any headset already in the fleet. Reception and dispatch desks can add the Poly CCX EM60 expansion module for line keys and busy-lamp fields; installs that need the phone off the work surface use the Poly CCX 500/505 wall mount bracket. For shared rooms on the same SIP platform, a Poly Trio C60 conference phone is the matching table endpoint.

Key Features

  • Open SIP Firmware — The phone registers to any standard SIP platform, so a single hardware SKU serves hosted UCaaS, on-premises IP-PBX, and multi-tenant service-provider deployments.
  • North American Power Supply Included — The adapter ships in the box, which removes the PoE dependency at branch sites and desks served by legacy access switching.
  • Class 0 PoE Also Supported — The same unit can be redeployed to a PoE desk later, drawing 13 W over Ethernet instead of 25 W from the adapter.
  • 5-Inch Multi-Touch Touchscreen — A 1280 x 720 color LCD with dark mode gives one-tap access to contacts, calls, and voicemail.
  • Central Provisioning at Scale — FTP, TFTP, HTTP, and HTTPS server-based provisioning with DHCP and DNS-SRV support mass staging and call server redundancy.
  • Poly Acoustic Fence and NoiseBlockAI — Both technologies keep adjacent conversations and ambient noise out of the call in open offices and contact centers.
  • Poly HD Voice and Acoustic Clarity — Wideband 100 Hz to 20 kHz audio with full-duplex echo cancellation on every audio path.
  • Four Headset Options — Bluetooth, USB Type-A, USB Type-C, and RJ-9 connections let each user keep the headset already in service.
  • Two-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch — The desktop PC connects through the phone, so each desk uses one switch port rather than two.
  • ENERGY STAR Certified — The phone meets ENERGY STAR requirements, which supports energy reporting on large desk refreshes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this SKU and the PoE-only CCX 505?
Part number 84C16AA#ABA is the Open SIP model that includes a North American power supply in the box. The PoE-enabled SKUs ship without an adapter and rely on a Class 0 PoE switch port. This unit supports both power methods, so it is the safer specification when PoE coverage across the site is uncertain.

Which call platforms will this phone register to?
Any platform that implements standard SIP. The phone supports SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP, and SRTP, which covers common hosted UCaaS providers and on-premises IP-PBX systems. It does not ship with native Microsoft Teams firmware; the Teams CCX 505 is a separate part number.

How are large deployments provisioned?
The CCX 505 supports FTP, TFTP, HTTP, and HTTPS server-based central provisioning for mass deployments, with DHCP network setup and DNS-SRV for call server redundancy. Integrators typically stage a config server, apply per-MAC configuration files, and ship phones directly to site.

Can it be deployed over Wi-Fi instead of a wired drop?
Yes. Wi-Fi is integrated, which is useful in offices where the desk layout no longer matches the cabling. Note that a phone on Wi-Fi has no PoE source, so the included power supply is required in that configuration.

What security does it support on a segmented voice network?
The phone supports IEEE 802.1X authentication with EAPoL, media encryption via SRTP, encrypted configuration files, HTTPS secure provisioning, and 802.1Q VLAN tagging with 802.1p and Layer 3 TOS marking, which lets it sit on a tagged voice VLAN behind port-based authentication.

Can we add more line keys for a reception desk?
Yes. The Poly CCX EM60 expansion module attaches to the CCX 505 and adds programmable line keys with busy-lamp fields for operator and front-office positions handling high call volume.

Is a wall mount available?
Yes. The Poly CCX 500/505 wall mount bracket is the supported accessory for wall installation in lobbies, corridors, warehouse areas, and other spaces without a desk.

What warranty and support are included?
The phone carries the Poly one-year limited warranty. HP Poly+ service agreements are available separately for extended coverage and advance hardware replacement; contact Creation Networks for the right tier for a multi-site rollout.
