Product Overview

The Panasonic PT-RQ50KU is a 50,000-lumen native 4K 3DLP laser projector engineered for the most demanding large-venue and projection-mapping installations. As one of the brightest commercial-grade large venue laser projectors available without an integrated lens, it delivers true 4096 x 2160 resolution from a comparatively compact, filter-free body. Integrators specify the PT-RQ50KU for fixed installation and high-output rental and staging work where image scale, color accuracy, and 24/7 reliability are non-negotiable.

Product Description

Built around three native 4K DLP chips and a dual-laser SOLID SHINE light source, the PT-RQ50KU produces 50,000 lumens (51,000 lumens center) with a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for deep, saturated images on very large screens. Hermetically sealed optics and a filter-free cooling design support roughly 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation, which keeps total cost of ownership predictable across permanent installs. Free 360-degree installation, powered lens shift, and full geometry correction let AV system designers rig the projector in portrait, tilted, or stacked configurations for projection mapping and edge-blended arrays. A supplied 12G-SDI interface board, HDBaseT DIGITAL LINK, dual LAN with Art-Net, and an additional SLOT NX expansion bay make it straightforward to integrate into a broadcast or show-control signal chain. No lens is included, so plan the throw with a Panasonic ET-D3Q-series lens such as the ET-D3QW300 zoom lens or ET-D3QS400 zoom lens. For lower-output rooms, compare the PT-RQ35KU and PT-RQ25KU.

Key Features

  • 50,000 Lumens, Native 4K — Three native 4096 x 2160 DLP chips deliver full 4K resolution and extreme brightness for very large, high-ambient-light venues.
  • Dual Laser SOLID SHINE Engine — Blue and red laser diodes provide an expanded color gamut and stable output without the maintenance cycle of lamp-based projectors.
  • Filter-Free, Sealed Optics — A hermetically sealed optical block and filter-less cooling support approximately 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation in continuous installs.
  • Free 360-Degree Installation — Horizontal and vertical mounting in any orientation supports projection mapping, ceiling rigging, and stacked configurations.
  • 20,000:1 Contrast Ratio — Dynamic contrast produces deep blacks and high-impact images for cinema, simulation, and large-format content.
  • 12G-SDI and DIGITAL LINK — Supplied 12G-SDI board plus HDBaseT DIGITAL LINK simplify long-cable 4K signal distribution in commercial AV racks.
  • SLOT NX Expansion — An additional expansion slot accepts optional interface boards for future-proof signal and IP connectivity.
  • Dualized Redundancy — Redundant internal design and backup input protect against single-point failures during live events.

Typical Applications

  • Auditorium — Large university, civic, and corporate auditoriums requiring bright, native-4K imagery on oversized screens.
  • House of Worship — Main sanctuaries and multi-campus worship venues with large screens and continuous-use schedules.
  • Broadcast Studio — Virtual production and large-format studio backdrops needing 4K detail and SDI integration.
  • All-Hands Room — Flagship all-hands and general-session spaces where a single high-output projector covers a very large image.
  • Government Space — Command, briefing, and simulation environments requiring high-resolution, long-life projection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PT-RQ50KU include a lens? No. This is a no-lens model. It uses Panasonic ET-D3Q-series powered lenses; select the throw ratio based on your screen size and projector position before installation.

How is it mounted and rigged? The projector supports free 360-degree installation in any orientation, including portrait and tilt, which makes it suitable for projection mapping, ceiling rigging, and stacked or edge-blended arrays. Confirm rigging hardware and load ratings for the approximately 278 lb chassis.

How does it integrate into a commercial AV system? A 12G-SDI interface board is supplied, and HDBaseT DIGITAL LINK carries 4K video and control over a single cable. Dual LAN with Art-Net, RS-232C serial, and a SLOT NX expansion bay allow integration with show-control, PJLink, and IP-based monitoring platforms.

What power does it require? It operates on AC 200–240 V or AC 100–120 V. At 100–120 V the brightness is restricted, so large-venue deployments should plan for a 200–240 V circuit to achieve full output.

What about warranty and support? Panasonic professional projectors are backed by Panasonic's commercial warranty and ProVideo service programs. Creation Networks can advise on warranty terms, extended coverage, and spare-lens planning for your install.
