The Netgear WAX610W is an AX1800 dual-band WiFi 6 access point built to mount on a wall, with four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired devices in the same room. Netgear designed it for hospitality, multi-dwelling units and education, where each room needs dependable WiFi plus wired drops for TVs, phones or streaming devices. It is managed through the NETGEAR Insight cloud platform and powered by PoE.
How does the Netgear WAX610W work?
The WAX610W takes a single Gigabit uplink with PoE+ input (802.3at/af) and delivers up to 1,200 Mbps on 5 GHz and 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, for 1.8 Gbps aggregate throughput over four 2x2 streams. WiFi 6 features including OFDMA, MU-MIMO, Beamforming+ and BSS Coloring keep performance consistent when neighbouring rooms each have their own access point.
On the room side, four Gigabit LAN ports connect wired devices, and LAN4 supplies PoE output to power a phone or small device. That turns one cable run into in-room WiFi plus a small switch, which simplifies hotel, dorm and classroom builds. Netgear rates PoE consumption at 13.19 W, so it fits easily on a PoE+ switch such as the Netgear M4250-26G4F-POE+ AV Line switch.
Setup and monitoring run through the NETGEAR Insight app or cloud portal, with eight SSIDs, VLAN and QoS settings, and a customizable captive portal for guest WiFi.
