Product Overview

The Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20XP is the externally powered, IntelligentDC version of the compact wide-coverage point-source loudspeaker, designed for installed AV systems that benefit from remote powering. Its rotatable 110° x 50° constant-Q horn delivers even, predictable coverage for conference rooms, houses of worship, auditoriums, and multi-purpose spaces. Two 5-inch low-frequency drivers and a 2-inch compression driver are driven by an internal three-channel Class-D amplifier that receives DC power and balanced audio over a single cable. A Phoenix 5-pin connection carries both power and audio from a Meyer Sound MPS IntelligentDC power supply.

Product Description

Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20XP Compact Wide Coverage Loudspeaker

The ULTRA-X20XP uses Meyer Sound's IntelligentDC technology to receive 48 V DC power and balanced audio through a single Phoenix 5-pin connector, eliminating the need for AC wiring conduits at each loudspeaker while preserving self-powered performance. The amplifier and processing circuits store DC power and tolerate voltage drops, accommodating light-gauge cables and runs up to 150 feet with about 1 dB of loss using 18 AWG power conductors. A concentric driver configuration provides coaxial-style point-source behavior with directional control of frequencies down to 600 Hz, and phase-corrected electronics maintain flat amplitude and phase response. Power is supplied by the two-channel MPS-482HP or the eight-channel MPS-488HP. For the self-powered AC version, see the standard ULTRA-X20; for the broad-coverage IntelligentDC model, see the ULTRA-X23XP, or browse the full Meyer Sound range. Pair with a 750-LFC to extend low-frequency output.

Key Features

  • IntelligentDC Powering — Receives 48 V DC power and balanced audio over a single Phoenix 5-pin connector from a Meyer Sound MPS power supply.
  • Long Cable Runs — Tolerates voltage drops up to 30% and supports composite cable runs up to 150 feet with about 1 dB of loss using 18 AWG power conductors.
  • Wide 110° x 50° Coverage — A rotatable constant-Q horn projects an even, wide pattern across broad audience areas.
  • Concentric Driver Configuration — Two 5-inch cone drivers and a 2-inch compression driver provide point-source performance with directional control down to 600 Hz.
  • Onboard Three-Channel Amplifier — A Class-D amplifier delivers 860 W peak with integrated crossover, correction filters, and driver protection.
  • Compact Aluminum Enclosure — A 27 lb (12.3 kg) vented aluminum cabinet with textured black finish suits size- and weight-critical installations.
  • Flexible Rigging — Integral M8 points on each end plus rear M6 threaded holes support pole, yoke, U-bracket, wall, and ceiling mounting.

Typical Applications

  • House of Worship — Remote DC powering and wide coverage simplify distributed loudspeaker layouts across sanctuary seating.
  • Conference Room — Single-cable power and audio streamline installation in networked AV and conferencing rooms.
  • Multi-Purpose Room — IntelligentDC distribution adapts to reconfigurable event and assembly spaces.
  • Auditorium — Centralized powering and point-source predictability simplify larger system designs.
  • Government Space — Conduit-free DC distribution suits managed institutional AV installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the ULTRA-X20XP powered?
It uses Meyer Sound's IntelligentDC technology, receiving 48 V DC power and balanced audio through a single Phoenix 5-pin connector from an MPS-482HP or MPS-488HP power supply.

How does it differ from the standard ULTRA-X20?
The XP version is externally powered over a single composite cable rather than using a local AC connection, while retaining the same 110° x 50° coverage and acoustic performance.

How long can the cable runs be?
Composite cables such as Belden 1502 or equivalent can deliver power and audio up to 150 feet with about 1 dB of peak SPL loss using 18 AWG power conductors; longer runs are possible with heavier-gauge wire.

Does the ULTRA-X20XP require an external power supply?
Yes. A Meyer Sound MPS IntelligentDC power supply (MPS-482HP or MPS-488HP) is required and sold separately.

Is the ULTRA-X20XP covered by warranty?
Yes. It is covered under Meyer Sound's standard product warranty. For details, please contact us.
