Product Overview

The Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20 is a compact, self-powered point-source loudspeaker engineered for wide-coverage reinforcement in installed and portable AV applications. Its rotatable 110° x 50° constant-Q horn delivers even, predictable coverage across large listening areas in conference rooms, houses of worship, and multi-purpose spaces. Two 5-inch low-frequency cone drivers and a 2-inch compression driver combine in a vented aluminum enclosure that weighs only 27 lb (12.3 kg). The internal three-channel Class-D amplifier and onboard processing make this a complete, ready-to-deploy reinforcement solution.

Product Description

Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20 Compact Wide Coverage Loudspeaker

The ULTRA-X20 extends the point-source technology of the larger ULTRA-X40 into a smaller, weight-critical format. A concentric driver configuration provides coaxial-style point-source behavior with directional control of frequencies down to 600 Hz, while phase-corrected electronics ensure flat amplitude and phase response for accurate imaging. The rotatable horn lets integrators orient the 110° x 50° pattern horizontally or vertically without changing the coverage shape. The analog input accepts a balanced XLR 3-pin signal with male loop output, and the loudspeaker auto-selects its operating voltage through Meyer Sound's Intelligent AC supply. For tighter pattern control, compare the narrow-coverage ULTRA-X22 and the broad 110° x 110° ULTRA-X23, or browse the full Meyer Sound range. Pair with a 750-LFC low-frequency control element to extend low-end output.

Key Features

  • Wide 110° x 50° Coverage — A rotatable constant-Q horn projects an even, wide pattern that covers broad audience areas from a single compact cabinet.
  • Concentric Driver Configuration — Two 5-inch cone drivers and a 2-inch compression driver provide coaxial-style point-source performance with directional control down to 600 Hz.
  • Self-Powered Three-Channel Amplifier — An onboard Class-D amplifier delivers 860 W peak with integrated crossover, correction filters, and driver protection.
  • Flat Amplitude and Phase Response — Phase-corrected electronics yield exceptional impulse response and precise stereo imaging.
  • Intelligent AC Power Supply — Automatic voltage selection from 90–265 V AC with transient suppression, EMI filtering, and soft-start power-up.
  • Compact Aluminum Enclosure — A 27 lb (12.3 kg) vented aluminum cabinet with textured black finish suits size- and weight-critical installations.
  • Flexible Rigging — Integral M8 points on each end plus rear M6 threaded holes support pole, yoke, U-bracket, wall, and ceiling mounting.

Typical Applications

  • House of Worship — Wide, even coverage supports speech intelligibility and music reproduction across sanctuary seating.
  • Conference Room — Compact format delivers consistent voice reinforcement for presentations and conferencing.
  • Multi-Purpose Room — Flexible rigging and broad coverage adapt to reconfigurable event and assembly spaces.
  • Auditorium — Point-source predictability simplifies system design for larger seated audiences.
  • Training Room — Clear, full-range output supports instructional audio and AV playback.

Competitor Comparison

Criteria Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20 L-Acoustics X12 d&b E8
Powering The ULTRA-X20 is fully self-powered with an integrated three-channel Class-D amplifier and onboard processing. The X12 is a passive coaxial enclosure that requires an external L-Acoustics amplified controller. The E8 is a passive point-source cabinet that depends on an external d&b amplifier with DSP.
Coverage A rotatable 110° x 50° constant-Q horn maintains a consistent pattern in either orientation. The X12 offers a rotatable 90° or 60° symmetrical coverage pattern. The E8 provides a fixed nominal 100° x 50° coverage pattern.
Driver Configuration A concentric two 5-inch plus 2-inch design provides point-source behavior with directional control to 600 Hz. The X12 uses a 12-inch low driver coaxially mounted with a 3-inch diaphragm compression driver. The E8 uses an 8-inch low-frequency driver with a 1-inch exit compression driver.
Monitoring An optional RMS module enables remote monitoring of loudspeaker parameters through Compass software. Monitoring is handled at the external LA amplified controller rather than within the cabinet. Monitoring is provided through the external d&b amplifier and R1 software.
Weight The cabinet weighs 27 lb (12.3 kg) including its onboard amplification. The X12 weighs approximately 31 lb (14 kg) as a passive enclosure. The E8 weighs approximately 22 lb (10 kg) as a passive enclosure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ULTRA-X20 self-powered?
Yes. It contains a three-channel Class-D amplifier rated at 860 W peak with integrated crossover, correction filtering, and driver protection, so no external amplifier is required.

What coverage pattern does the ULTRA-X20 provide?
It uses a rotatable 110° x 50° constant-Q horn, allowing the wide dimension to be oriented horizontally or vertically without changing the coverage shape.

How does the ULTRA-X20 differ from the ULTRA-X22 and ULTRA-X23?
All three share the same enclosure and electronics; the ULTRA-X20 is the wide 110° x 50° model, the ULTRA-X22 is the narrow 80° x 50° model, and the ULTRA-X23 is the broad 110° x 110° model.

Can the ULTRA-X20 be remotely monitored?
Yes. The analog version accepts an optional RMS module that reports operating parameters to a host computer running Compass Control Software via an RMServer hardware unit.

What rigging options are available?
Integral M8 points on each end and four rear M6 threaded holes support pole mounting, the MYA-X20 yoke, the MUB U-bracket, the MTC-X20 top channel, and third-party wall mounts.

Is the ULTRA-X20 covered by warranty?
Yes. It is covered under Meyer Sound's standard product warranty. For details, please contact us.
