The UC W31 uses a 12 MP Sony 1/2.3-inch sensor with a fixed 120-degree wide-angle lens to cover the full width of a small conference table without requiring pan, tilt, or zoom adjustment. The sensor's natural color reproduction accurately renders skin tones and room colors under office fluorescent, LED, and natural lighting. Built-in intelligent framing technology analyzes the scene and adjusts the digital crop to keep all participants centered and in view, functioning as a software PTZ layer on top of the 4K native capture.

The 5x digital zoom allows operators to push in on a whiteboard or specific area of the room via the conferencing software's camera controls without switching cameras.
