What is the Kramer EXT3-UE-R USB and Ethernet receiver?
The Kramer EXT3-UE-R is a USB 2.0 receiver with two-way powering over extended-reach twisted pair CAT cable. It converts the transmitted CAT signal into USB 2.0, Ethernet, RS-232 and audio signals at the far end of the room. Its main job is to put a USB conferencing camera or soundbar at the display while the host computer stays at the table or in the rack, which is how many AV rooms are upgraded to hybrid meeting rooms.
How does the Kramer EXT3-UE-R work?
The receiver connects a remote USB host to locally connected USB peripherals over one CAT cable, supporting interrupt, bulk and isochronous USB 2.0 transfers. Cameras, touch screens, smart boards, hard drives, audio devices, printers and HID devices such as keyboards and mice can all be extended.
Ethernet and RS-232 data flow in both directions, so a LAN-connected control system, such as Kramer Control, can drive PTZ cameras and soundbars connected at the receiver. An analog audio line signal from the remote source is passed to a locally connected audio playback device.
When the receiver has its own power supply it fast-charges connected USB peripherals; when it is powered by the transmitter over CAT it provides standard USB charging. Panel LEDs aid troubleshooting, embedded web pages manage connected I/O devices such as sensors, and the fanless TOOLS enclosure mounts on the back of a device or three across in 1U with a rack adapter.
