Product Overview
The Kramer KDS-USB2 is a KVM-over-IP extender kit that extends USB 2.0 and display signals over a standard IP network, enabling a host computer to be operated remotely over an Ethernet infrastructure without a dedicated point-to-point cable between the KVM station and the host. AV integrators and IT managers deploy the KDS-USB2 in corporate, government, and broadcast environments where workstations are centralized in secure or temperature-controlled equipment rooms while operators work remotely at user stations connected via the LAN. Unlike traditional fiber or Cat KVM extenders, the KDS-USB2 routes over existing IP network infrastructure, allowing host computers and operator stations to be anywhere on the same network.
Key Features
- KVM over IP — Extends USB 2.0 keyboard, mouse, and display over standard IP Ethernet infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the KDS-USB2 kit?
The KDS-USB2 kit includes both the KDS-USB2-EN encoder (installed at the host computer) and the KDS-USB2-DEC decoder (at the operator station). Both units are available individually at https://creationnetworks.net if additional encoders or decoders are needed for a multi-station deployment.
Does the KDS-USB2 require a dedicated network or VLAN?
The KDS-USB2 routes over standard IP Ethernet. For performance in larger deployments, a dedicated VLAN or QoS configuration is recommended. Contact Creation Networks at https://creationnetworks.net for system design guidance.
What is the maximum distance?
Unlike point-to-point HDBaseT or fiber extenders, the KDS-USB2 is limited by the IP network topology rather than cable length. Hosts and operator stations can be anywhere on the same IP network or VLAN.
