What is the Kramer EXT3-TR HDBaseT 3.0 extender?
The Kramer EXT3-TR is a long-reach HDBaseT 3.0 extender for 4K@60Hz or 5K@30Hz 4:4:4 HDMI, USB 2.0, RS-232 and IR that can be set as either the transmitter-side or receiver-side unit. It extends video up to 40m (130ft) over CAT copper cable at 4K60 4:4:4. Using the same model at both ends simplifies spares and stocking for multi-room HDMI and USB extension projects.
How does the Kramer EXT3-TR work?
Set as a transmitter, the EXT3-TR converts its HDMI input and other signals into one HDBaseT 3.0 stream; set as a receiver, it converts that stream back to HDMI, USB, RS-232 and IR. HDCP 2.3, EDID and CEC pass through from the source to the display, along with up to 32 channels of uncompressed audio.
On the transmitter side, an HDMI loop output mirrors the input to a local monitor or to another unit in a daisy chain. USB 2.0 is flexible: the active USB host can sit at either end, so a room PC or presenter laptop reaches cameras, speakerphones and HID devices across the link.
Bidirectional RS-232 and IR carry device control, and status LEDs for HDMI, loop, HDBT and USB host simplify troubleshooting. The fanless MegaTOOLS enclosure is designed for dropped-ceiling mounting.
