Product Overview
NetPA U 2008 FX, part number 60-2027-01. The Extron NetPA U 2008 FX is an eight channel Dante power amplifier with onboard DSP and software configurable outputs. Each channel delivers 200 watts and can be set independently to drive 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V loads, so a single amplifier can serve low-impedance and constant-voltage zones in the same building. Total power is shared across adjacent channel pairs, which allows power to be allocated where the system actually needs it rather than fixed per channel. Dante and AES67 networking carry audio to the amplifier over standard structured cabling.
Product Description
Multi-zone audio in a commercial building rarely has uniform load requirements. A boardroom runs low-impedance surface speakers, the corridors run 70V distributed ceiling speakers, and a training room sits somewhere between. Traditionally that meant separate amplifiers, separate rack space, and stranded capacity in each one.
The NetPA U 2008 FX handles it in one chassis. Each of the eight 200 watt channels is software configurable for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V operation, selectable per channel. That configuration lives in software, so a zone can be re-tasked during commissioning or after a room refit without changing hardware or rewiring taps.
Power sharing between adjacent channel pairs is the other flexibility. Rather than eight fixed 200 watt allocations, the total power of two adjacent channels is shared, so a demanding zone can draw more while its neighbor draws less. In a real building where zone requirements are uneven, that converts stranded amplifier capacity into usable headroom.
Audio performance is specified end to end. Frequency response through the DSP is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB and through the amplifier within 1 dB. THD+N through the DSP is below 0.01 percent at 1 kHz at maximum output, and 0.2 percent at 1 kHz at 3 dB below clipping through the amplifier. Signal to noise is 100 dB unweighted from line in to line out and line in to speaker out, and 105 dB from line in to digital out. Crosstalk is below minus 90 dB at 1 kHz fully loaded, and volume control resolves in 0.1 dB steps across a 100 dB range.
Eight mono balanced or unbalanced analog inputs supplement the Dante and AES67 network audio paths. For four channel requirements, the Extron NetPA U 2004 FX shares the same architecture at 200 watts per channel, and the NetPA U 4004 FX offers four channels at 400 watts. Replacement air filters for scheduled maintenance are available as the Extron AFK 100.

Key Features
- Eight 200 watt channels — Delivers 200 watts per channel across eight channels into 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V loads.
- Software configurable outputs — Each channel's output mode is set in software, so zones can be re-tasked without rewiring or new hardware.
- Shared power across channel pairs — Total power of two adjacent channels is shared, converting stranded capacity into usable headroom for demanding zones.
- Dante and AES67 networking — Carries audio over standard structured cabling, removing long analog runs from the design.
- Onboard DSP — Integrated signal processing handles zone EQ, limiting, and level management without an external processor.
- Precision volume control — Level adjusts from -100 dB to 0 dB in 0.1 dB steps for accurate zone balancing.
- Low distortion — THD+N below 0.01 percent at 1 kHz through the DSP at maximum output level.
- High signal to noise — 100 dB unweighted from line in to speaker out, and 105 dB from line in to digital out.
- Eight analog inputs — Eight mono balanced or unbalanced inputs supplement the network audio paths.
- Low crosstalk — Below -90 dB at 1 kHz with all channels fully loaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can one amplifier drive both 70V and low-impedance zones?
Yes. Each of the eight channels is independently software configurable for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V operation, so a single chassis can serve constant-voltage distributed zones and low-impedance rooms simultaneously.
What does shared power between channel pairs mean in practice?
The total power available to two adjacent channels is pooled rather than fixed at 200 watts each. A zone that needs more can draw more while its paired neighbor draws less, which is useful when zone requirements are uneven, as they usually are.
Does it require an external DSP?
No. Onboard DSP handles zone processing including EQ, limiting, and level management. An external processor is only needed if the system requires functions beyond the amplifier's DSP scope, such as acoustic echo cancellation for conferencing.
Is AES67 supported alongside Dante?
Yes, the amplifier supports Dante and AES67 audio networking. Confirm the AES67 configuration against your specific network and DSP during design, since AES67 interoperability depends on clocking and stream setup.
What network infrastructure does it need?
Standard structured cabling and a switch configured appropriately for Dante audio, including QoS and clocking considerations. Creation Networks can review network requirements for the deployment before you order.
How does it compare to the NetPA U 2004 FX and 4004 FX?
The NetPA U 2004 FX offers four channels at 200 watts and the NetPA U 4004 FX four channels at 400 watts. This model provides eight channels at 200 watts, which suits buildings with many small zones rather than fewer high-power ones.
What routine maintenance is required?
Air filter replacement on a schedule appropriate to the environment. The Extron AFK 100 supplies replacement filters in 10 packs for Ultra FX Series amplifiers.
What warranty applies?
Extron provides a manufacturer warranty. Creation Networks coordinates warranty and RMA handling for equipment purchased through us.
